  1. I don't quite agree with that. Once a month is a good phase for CCleaner; to add new programs, add/edit new versions of new/already listed programs, fix old entries and other bugs, update languages if necessary etc.
  2. Might "MS Search" -entry under "Applications/Windows" affect it? (Nope, not for me anyways) Do you use Winapp2.ini-file? Weird, my Run-history remains even I've ticket everything in CCleaner with Winapp2.ini (except for few Firefox entries). Though you're running XP and I'm Win7 64bit, so can't really test it properly.
  3. See if this helps: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=34118 As for CCleaner: Free = Free Home = +Support Business = +Support + Business and Network Edition (for domains etc)
  4. True. Have you noticed this somewhere else than in Winapp2.ini Temp-entry?
  5. More info about SCM: http://www.geoffchap.../events/wpp.htm and http://social.techne...a-9d713b7fa402/ and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms685150%28v=vs.85%29.aspx Though, I haven't had any issues with that entry (not yet atleast), cleaned a few PC's with it ticked (Win7). And like always, as I guess you already know, you should always be (more) careful with Winapp2.ini, 'cause it's a custom config/file.
  6. Untick Run-entry under Windows Explorer:
  7. I can try to get the same symptoms on my PC later (disable aero/try different themes, maybe). Updating graphics drivers (and DirectX?) might help. Have you tested with different themes?
  8. Well, I always like an update, doesn't matter to what (especially to CCleaner + Winapp2.ini). And like I said, no hurries, just curious. Don't really get your point there / point for that post.
  9. New version of CCleaner just came out, when will Winapp2.ini? No hurries/worries, just asking.
  10. Found it: http://www.piriform....d-windows-files "Old Prefetch Data - (XP only) To run quickly, Windows uses prefetch files to store information about programs that you frequently use. The Cleaner deletes old prefetch data for programs that no longer exist or haven't been used in a long time." So the entry I made is for Vista/7 and it deletes all prefetch datas.

  12. I run CCleaner in normal startup, easier. It probably could remove a bit more files/registries in safe mode, I guess (less/min. services & software running).
  13. Yup, at least in Win7. Does it work/is it the same in XP, too?
  14. Could it be: XP: Documents and Settings\All Users Vista: ProgramData XP: Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data Vista: ProgramData XP: %CommonAppData% Vista/7: %ProgramData% Don't have XP machine here so can't test these. %ProgramData% opens "C:\ProgramData" in Win7.
  15. I also remember seconding something like this.. So +1.
  16. How about this: MODIFIED ENTRY [MS PlayReady*] LangSecRef=3025 DetectFile=%CommonAppData%\Microsoft\PlayReady Default=False FileKey1=%CommonAppData%\Microsoft\PlayReady\Cache|*.* FileKey2=%CommonAppData%\Microsoft\PlayReady|*.hds FileKey3=%WinDir%\ehome|PRDMOWrapper.log FileKey4=%WinDir%\system32|PRDMOWrapper.log
  17. Nice update, but for a pretty old thread though (Started by Nut75, Jun 12 2007 07:47 PM). Last message Posted 23 June 2007 - 07:04 PM.
  18. I'd try updating the drivers, first. Maybe try a different WLAN management/connection software (not just Windows' own)? Also recheck the power settings and update power/power management drivers.

    Games

@DennisD: PS3 has bluray, though I'd buy a individual/seperate Blu-ray player. Go with your habits & price with that, I guess. You could check lists of exclusive games for PS3 and X360. Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings is great! Used to play it alot. I also do prefer PC alot over consoles. I'm playing Bejeweled Blitz @Facebook sometimes. ;D Doom + Hexen + etc I've on Steam (well, almost all my PC games are in Steam, if available there).
  20. Adblock Plus & NoScript, the best! Using these lists in ABP: - EasyList - Wiltteri - fanboy-adblock - fanboy-tracking - fanboy-annoyances And additional addons for ABP: Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon Elemet Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus They really should update those Firefoxes at our school.. :s Some things don't work / work right with those older versions (usually also with older Flash and Java, too).
  21. True.
