  1. How are you defragmenting? I usually defragment on-a-file basis, from the file list report. Maybe those files you spoke of are the System Volume Information files (Restore Points) that cannot be touched. I think there is some option under preferences to not include SVF in reports. Check it out.
  2. I have made several tests and I have found out that MyDefrag actually fragments my already defragmented MFTs. I prefer Defraggler all the way. Maybe Mydefrag scripts are powerful but I do not want to go offtopic and I found them uncomfortable and very user unfriendly.
  3. I am pretty sure defragging the MFT cannot be done using Windows defrag internal APIs (used by most free defragmenters). That's way Windows defrag is also unable to process MFT and that's why it's hard to implement. Additional standalone code would be needed. I might be wrong though.
  4. I am reading some other posts where Defraggler could have some issues with very large hard drives (2TB+). I don't know if it's related to the OP issue or not.
  5. I know. Perfectdisk is quite good but it's not free.
  6. Contig just sucks. I have never been able to defrag MFT with this tool, at least not fully.
  7. I've never seen this issue before. I have defragmented my games partition countless times (Steam is there too) and I haven't noticed any corruption. As it has already pointed out, make sure steam is fully closed and run a checkdisk on that drive.
  8. That doesn't make too much sense because DF is quite safe when defragmenting. I would perform a checkdisk on that drive first and check for hardware issues afterwards too. Is it an internal drive or an USB external one? If so, check USB connections as they tend to dislodge after some time.
  9. Unfortunately MyDefrag display is UGLY AS HELL.
  10. Hi. It would be nice if Defraggler could display some info about the Master File Table (MFT) after doing an analysis (MFT size, usage and fragmentation) just like Windows built-in defragmenter does.
  11. I disagree. CCleaner Registry Cleaner is quite safe, as far as I know. Always make a backup copy of registry entries.
  12. Try to make a backup of your drive. Then, disable System Protection (that deletes Restore Points). Defrag drive (normal mode not quick) and after that, reboot and re-enable System Protection.
  13. I agree. Running chkdsk /f before defragging a partition seems a good measure to be on the safe side. Even if there are no errors, you will just spend a few minutes running it.
  14. I advise to use Quick Defrag on those scenarios or Analyzing the drive and defragging files individually from the file list. Regular defrag is a time consuming operation because in addition to defragging it fills all gaps between files and thus, it has to move/shuffle all data around.
  15. 2.04 is out. Maybe it fixed something for you...
  16. I have already read that thread. It's not the same issue I am having.
  17. Tried the new 3.05.1409 build and Steam isn't yet recognized.
  18. Hello. After reading this thread I am begining to think this is a bless rather than a bug, lol, but I have Steam installed to E:\Steam and CCleaner doesn't show it under the programs tab for cleaner.
  19. Not all the contents should be deleted. I don't know if there is a way to know what remaining files belong to uninstalled printers.
  20. Hello. I wonder if this suggestion is feasible. After uninstalling a printer driver, a lot of leftovers remain in the SPOOL\PRINTERS folder.
  21. If you reformat and continue to use XP the reserved area will still be there. Vista/7 use a different approach to alleviate future MFT fragmentation and do not allocate that "reserved space" as XP does. In fact, I have installed Seven a few days ago (I was using XP) and now that gap can be filled with data when defragmenting.
  22. I think it's for security reasons. One thing I like about CCleaner is that is pretty safe to use, even for registry cleaning.
  23. This has been discussed earlier. There was a known bug in "Defrag freeespace" where options were, at least, inverted. I don't kwnow whether Piriform fixed it in v2 though. I do not use that option.
