When I woke up this morning I turned on my computer, and received a white screen stating that there was a hardware problem (didn't catch the rest), my tower was making a loud bleeping noise, and it said something about a memory dump. I panicked and shut it down. It did the same thing in safe mode. I rebooted, again, in safe mode and the only thing that I could access was Task Manager (which was missing the taskbar/toolbar). I rebooted again in safe mode, and ran dxdiag which said that no problems were found. Then I rebooted Normal, and now it seems to be working. Does anyone know how I could troubleshoot this occurrence, and determine what happened? Thank you, K

I did open a page, and a message was displayed saying that I needed a plug-in extension to view everything on the page. When I get that message is there a way to find out what extension is needed? PS Today I had to allow ActiveX 3 times

I guess that's why I was confused. Becuse my router automatically secures my network (with a few minor configs on my my part). I don't have any idea what a DB9 is, but it sounds awful. Why is your network unsecure? Secure it!!!

Wouldn't their network have a hardware (router) firewall? According to rridgley a hardware firewall is better than a software firewall.

How do you avoid activex? I run into it multiple times a day. Does ff give the option to download activex? Interesting. Sounds like it's worth trying out. Thanks guys!

I just finished reinstalling Maxthon, but only time will tell. The error only happens about every other day so I won't know right away if the re-installation did the trick. Is FF universally compatible? Also, on Mozillaine.org people are reporting that there are problems with FF 1.5.01. It made me nervous about trying it. What version of FF do you use?

I think that JohnDemolitions's point is that he didn't tell the program to disable Windows Messenger service, and it screwed it up anyway. A good tool shouldn't do things that you don't tell it to do. JohnDemolition - Did you try services.msc and make sure that Messenger is enabled and started?

It isn't there. It's like a damn ghost or something. I know 3 people that are having the exact same problem with BETA 1. I'm out of ideas. oh nooo! I'm an idiot. Didn't even occur to me to try using CCleaner.

That's the thing my XP Pro sp2 CD has a different serial number than my x64 edition CD. So if I reformat this computer again and install x64 edition my pro sp2 CD should be okay to install on another computer...right? Not sure.

Hey guys. I've been using Maxthon for about 3 weeks, and it keeps giving me trouble on the forum. Rridgely asked me if Java was disabled, but I don't know where to look (don't want to keep bothering hime with PM's). I want to include an additional HD. Is this x64 edition going to install the same as sp2 (same options)? Can't I do a clean install, and skip erasing? Then use my sp2 cd on another computer? Is that legal? You guys are giving me a damn conscience. I honestly am walking into this blind. I don't know what to expect, but this CD just keeps sitting here staring at me, and darnit I want to use it.
