  1. Why not just create a mirror of Filehippo.com, or say this thread is sponsored by Filehippo.com (being totally sarcastic of course)!

Anyways, since most of those downloads are on Filehippo.com why no just link to the main page or main sections, those updates aren't exactly difficult to find.

I know what you mean. But it's nice to have them here too, right? I tried to start a similar thread awhile back and it went to crap within a day. LMAO :P

  2. ya, thats it. i can never remember it. it still keeps stopping mcaffee, suggest i boot up in safe mode to do a scan? would that kill everything?

Yes, it can help. Some virus's, etc. will run as processes and I think that the processes have to be stopped for removal (something like that,,,hehe). Booting in safe mode only loads minimal processes (about 10, or 12 I think) that way most processes are stopped which makes them removable.

Okay,,,FYI. I am not a malware expert even a little. The above information is a conclusion that I have developed from reading many, many, many, many malware removal threads.

Please feel free to correct any mistakes I made in that statement. :P

  3. kaspersky? Is that the one you used and it showed clean? Sorry, I suppose it doesn't really matter much at this point but I'm curious about lots of things. haha :P

  4. That is really odd that McAffee is the only scanner that detected them. Do you ever use any online scanners? If so, which ones do you use?

  5. Okay, I'm only sharing this information because it might be helpful to someone else.

I installed ME on my other HD (don't freak out people I just needed to use some hardware that wasn't compatible with XP). So I formatted the HD and did a clean intall of ME.

I installed and uninstalled a lot of stuff right away then ran CC before doing a defrag. WELL! As soon as I rebooted, the OS was pratically Gone. I used a restoration CD to replace missing files and 45 minutes later it had finished copying the missing files.

My assumption is that ME installs stuff in temp folders somewhere, but I haven't confirmed that. So! This leads me to believe that CC and ME are not compatible.

When I find my first thread here I will post it, because it's the same thing. Both times that I used CC on my ME OS it has been completely corrupted.

So does anyone know off the top of their head if ME installs stuff in temp folders? That's the only thing I can think of.

  6. And doesn't CCleaner clean the drive that you install it on? Did you install CCleaner on your I drive?

(just a thought, maybe I'm off here tho)

EDIT: I agree with pwillener though. You need to fix windows right now. CCleaner probably is not your solution at the moment, but will be good once windows is fixed.

  7. I agree I use FF with Adblock and I very rarely get these silly adverts.

If you must see them, take them with a pinch of salt.

Do you shout at the TV when all the adverts come on between programs, this is just another way Mr G and Co and trying to get money to keep this product free.

I think it's time to cut these guys some slack.

Thank you for saying that mps69_1999. I totally agree with you. ;)

All of the complaining is getting seriously ridiculous.

  8. Well it was a runtime error, but not because VB needed to be updated (I do that anytime I install CC on a machine). But the runtime error was because CC couldn't finish cleaning. There was a file/folder that CC was trying to delete but it needed to be unlocked first. That's the best explanation I can come up with because once I unlocked it CC ran fine.

    Thanks guys. All is well.

  9. Just curious if anyone knows what this means. CC v1.29 on Windows Pro 2000. Thanks :)

    CCleaner

    Error in file:

    C:\Program Files\CCleaner\winsys.ini

    Line:

    SpecialKey1=N_TEMP_CLIPBOARD

    521 - Can't open Clipboard

  10.

After I installed IE7 (Beta), running Ccleaner deletes cookies, even when cookies are unchecked. The cookies are still there in 'C:\documents and settings\User Name\cookies' folder after running Ccleaner, but get deleted after reboot.

Cookies do not get deleted if Ccleaner is not run. Therefore it is not some feature of IE 7 that is deleting cookies on reboot.

I would appreciate to know the solution to this problem.

    Thanks,

    Preet

People have been trying to find solutions to the IE7 cookies issues for months now. Lots of people are still working on it, but I have a feeling that it won't be worked out until IE7 is stable (just a guess).

Did you try Leon's suggestion by anychance?

(looks like I will be using IE7 again soon :P )

  11. Hi drew and welcome :)

Does it give you an error or anything? Download DAF > Open DAF > click the Green Checkmark at the botton > Press Go > Reboot.

I'm shooting in the dark here abit because you didn't offer very much information. If the above didn't do the trick try:

DAF > Tools > Repair Permissions > Go > Reboot

Let us know if the problem persists.
