Hello
I think I understand what you are saying. The installation was somehow corrupted, and now you can't uninstall it?
First download, and install VB, just in case.
I would boot into Safe Mode. The install CCleaner again (do not try to uninstall it first). Hopefully, that will reinstall it without any corruption.
If that doesn't work, it would be helpful to know what OS you are running, your firewall, and antivirus.
Good Luck,
Kristin

I haven't tried the fix issues yet, but have noticed that in the recycle bin there is no CCleaner option when I right click. I DO have this checked in settings. Running CCleaner 1.30.310
Hi Allen Crist
Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling CCleaner? Make sure that you check those settings during the installation. Also, if you are using Norton and/or Windows Defender...try turning them off during the installation. They have been known to corrupt installations from time to time.
Let us know if you get it working.

Hi Elf
Do you have more than one account on your system?
Ah. I didn't know that's what he meant.
Sorry, Elf.

Hi pentool, welcome
I'm not really sure what's happening. My guess is that you have a setting under Advanced that is doing it. Uncheck everything under Advanced and let us know if it's still happening.

It didn't work here... It said that I had to run it with the same account as which I installed it with...
I'll try the Re?nstall Windows XP SP2 fix.. (Only the service pack)
Bummer. Let us know if that works for you.

Welcome Animeniac
Have you tried unchecking it Macromedia under the Applications Tab? If so, what happens?
What OS are you running?

If people dont know how to use a forum, they dont belong on the Internet.
E, you need to learn some manners.
YOU DON'T BELONG ON THE INTERNET!

Even if you said it looked like week old dog poop I would have laughed - because I would've expected it from you, you're too predictable dude! It wouldn't have upset me at all.
Yep! ROFLMAO
nice one Andavari
I really like it Andavari. Good job. It's my favorite!
It looks like an improvement to me.

Make a post in the announcements forum
How would that help? People would still be scared of messing up a thread.

Are you positive that CCleaner isn't finished cleaning? Some cleaning doesn't take place until reboot. In the Option > Advanced is "Close Program After Cleaning" checked?
After that I would check this.
Let us know if that works. Good Luck.

One of the members here, AndyManchesta, uploaded the IE7 beta 2 uninstaller for people who accidentally delete it using CCleaner. Send him a PM if you need it.I'm a little new to all this so forgive the ignorance... So let's say you have IE7 Beta 2 and do delete the hotfix (like I just did), are you stuck with it forever? Is there a way to uninstall it without that hotfix?
Or do a search, because he posted it here somewhere.
-
Thank you; that really brings a whole new perspective to the issue at hand!
ROFLMAO
As for you Aaron. You aren't making sense at this point. First you said that you didn't want the folder to be recognized by other programs, but now you want the items in the folder to magically disappear at some point because the name of the folder is Temp? Say what you mean, and mean what you say so that people aren't running in circles trying to help.
Also, Aaron. I'm sure that you will now play with your environment variables now that you know what they are. I suggest you write down the correct settings before changing that stuff around. Changing your environment variables is how people lose "Real Important Documents". I do suggest that you don't mess with your environment variables at all, but I know you better than that.
NOTE: Don't put anything like C:\WINDOWS in your environment variable. That will cause CCleaner to wipe out your entire OS. LMAO

Yep. That is often helpful. It has worked for me in the past.

Going flipping crazy for a cigarette! It's been 30 hrs since I went cold turkey.
Congrats! Me too!

lmao, yep. It took me 30 minutes to cancel AOL, and I had to get really mean. He just refused no matter what, then they still won't close my email account. GRRRRRRRRRRR
I HATE AOL!!

I would like to add that it's not safe to use the hotfix uninstaller if you're using IE7 Beta. The uninstaller for IE7 is a hotfix uninstaller, so CCleaner will delete it. That is the only glich, oh, and the same for SP2. If you downloaded SP2 the uninstaller is a hotfix uninstaller. Aside from those two apps you are fine.

Okay, I need you to answer a few questions.
1. Is USER.EXE in your system32, and dllcache folder?
2. Did you download, AND install SP2?
3. What version of XP are you using? Home or Professional?
4. Why don't you understand the difference between Cmd.exe, and Command.com? What steps do you take to run a DOS application? By telling me how you run a DOS application I will know if you're using Cmd.exe, or Command.com.
Please answer the questions matching the answers to the question using numbers.
Thank you,
Kristin
P.S. I'm not addressing any possibilites of malware because I noticed that Andy is addressing that in the appropriate forum.

After you install VB6 make sure you restart Windows, even if the installer doesn't tell you to do so!
Yep! Thanks Andavari.

Welcome Rev Jim
Often this occurs because you need to update your Visual Basic runtimes. You can read more about it here. Download and install VB6, then post back and let us know if you are still having any problems.
Good Luck!

dllcache is there, it's a hidden system folder.
Go into it by hand if you want to (but you don't really need to; I'm not sure why that was recommended).
Start > Run > dllcache
Well my instructions (in Post #12) were to include hidden system folders to search for USER.EXE. Cutepuffy 16 said that it didn't show up in the search so I suggested that she reinstall it into system32 and the dllcache.
Some people have had the same problem as this one and corrected it by re-installing USER.EXE. Others have corrected the same problem by running DOS programs from Command.com instead of Cmd.exe.
That is all that I know.

I hid the update for WGA Notifications way back when I saw it was beta and I am still able to download Windows Updates. After all, you only need WGA, not their WGA Notifications.
Ah, now I get what you were saying. And I didn't mean to imply that you aren't legit. I thought you just might be bypassing some BS.
-
Was I wrong? Will you still receive Windows Updates even if you don't use this tool to prove to Microsoft that your copy of Windows is genuine?
Yeah, Tarun. How are you getting your updates? Are you just using a workaround? I had never found it necessary, but now I'm wondering about that.

I disagree with this statement. I am not dumb nor an idiot. I was careful to check and recheck everything before I ran ccleaner and fixed issues, now I have two computers that can't run MSN Messenger. My third one I did not install ccleaner on and it is working fine. Now I am trying to undo everything that ccleaner did with no success. I am going to have to try another restore point at a time before I heard of ccleaner and see if that fixes the issues that seem insurmountable...I have little hope that it will.
Have you just tried uninstalling then reinstalling MSN Messenger by any chance? If so, what happened? I have MSN Messenger on all of my machines and CCleaner on all of my machines. I run CCleaner about 3 times a day and I have never had the same problem. Many people here would be more than happy to help you fix your problem.
