What is the file extension - .EXE? If it is, here is some information: http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/mpcache/434022/
  2. YES, the attachment section now appears in both styles. I've sent you 2 PMs, the second with an attached file just as a test. Thanks, Gary
  3. One word comes to mind - BACKUP!
  4. That is certainly true, however... mods, admins & bug fixers have been telling users to PM them and attach certain files assuming that they could. If we now have to use a file sharing site, then anyone asking for files to be PM'ed to them has to be aware and re-phrase their request.
  5. MrRon was asking for various files (not images) be PM'ed to him for bug fixing.
  6. I've replied to your PM. The attachments section was not displayed on either PC when I tried to reply. Judging by the posts here, it looks like a few others have the same issue. It's probably one of those things a user doesn't realize is missing until they are asked to PM files and find out they can't.
  7. "Should be" seems to be the issue. I already asked in the other topic if user privileges made a difference and received a reply that it didn't. This is what I see when trying to send a PM - no file attachment section as in your screen shot:
  8. Also nikki what av do you use? Same on both machines? - BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 on both PCs. The only difference being the 32-bit version is installed on the WinXP desktop and the 64-bit version is installed on the Win7 laptop. Do you use java? - Yes, Version 6 Update 24 (build 1.6.0_24-b07) is installed on both PCs. Do yo use .net? - I checked Control Panel Add/Remove Programs and found the following listed: Win7 Pro SP1 x64 laptop: -Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile WinXP Pro SP3 x86 desktop: -Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 -Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 -Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 -Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 -Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile -Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended Also, I have the mvps.org HOSTS file installed on both PCs. Thanks for helping with this.
  9. Boy, does your post take me back and make me feel old, Alan. My first job in computers after graduating college was with RCA when they still had a computer division competing with IBM 360 mainframes. I worked on the old RCA 301's and 501's (later, the Spectra 70 series), both of which used paper tape readers to start their programs and for data entry. WOW! How far we have come.
  10. This topic is a continuation of posts I made in this topic. When trying to send a PM, I do not see the "Attachments" section to attach files. Other users do have this section. I DO see the "Attachments" section on the Posting screen, like right now as I am typing this and it does work. This happens on both my PC's - Win7 Pro SP1 x64 IE9 and WinXP Pro SP3 x86 IE8 (see the Speccy links in my sig for full configuration info on these PCs) Thanks for any help. Gary
  11. Interesting, there is an attachment section similar to the one I get when typing this reply. Under My Settings, neither rich text editor nor flash uploader are checked. I am using IE9, it is the only browser I have installed. I just tried compatibility mode in IE9, but there was still no attachment section. The full Speccy specs for this lenovo T410 laptop are in my Sig. I tried it on my WinXP Pro SP3 desktop PC running IE8 and got the same result... no file attachment section displayed. It was not my intention to hijack this topic with what I thought was going to be an easy side-question... is there a better sub-forum where we can/should continue this discussion?
  12. OK, thanks... switched to IPBoard. Now, when I try to send a PM, it brings up a quick message window & when I click on full editor, the screen below is displayed. So, essentially, I've already been going straight to the full editor screen, bypassing the quick message window. But I still have my original question - where/how do I attach a file to send the Speccy files to MrRon? Thanks for your help.
  13. OK, I'm really starting to feel like a total idiot. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so here is a screen shot of the Send Messenger screen when I try to send a message to MrRon. Where is the Full Editor so I can attach files? (notice I was able to attach a file to this post, so I know how to do that, at least) p.s. I also don't see a full editor option when I click on reply to a topic post.
  14. On the Send Message screen I see, there is no provision to attach any kind of file. Could it be that as a Mod, you have the necessary permissions to attach files that I don't?
  15. Again, I have logs that I am willing to send but I see no way to attach them to a PM
  16. OK, here is my dumb question. I was going to send my logs to MrRon and ran into a problem. When I get to the send message screen, I cannot find anything called 'choose full editor' so I can attach the log files. What am I missing?
  17. Start Excel and go into Excel Options-->Save and see what the default save folder location is set to. Mine is set to the Documents folder.
  18. No such folder on my WinXP Pro SP3 desktop either!?!
  19. Reading so many topics here, I don't understand user's facination with messing with the Windows Registry. I rarely touch the Registry. Very little (if anything) to be gained and so dangerous. About the only time I can remember using CCleaner to clean the Registry is if I'm having a problem uninstalling/installing/reinstalling a program. Even then, I only let it remove entries directly related to the program in question and I ALWAYS have it create a backup. Just my 2 cents.
  20. 40C is not high from my experience. My ThinkPad laptop right now is reporting 45C and my desktop is reporting 48C. You're in good shape at 40C. You can see the temps from all 3 of my PCs by clicking on the Speccy links in my signature.
  21. v2.04.297 (14 Apr 2011) - Added Windows Explorer extension for analysis and defrag. - Added option to shutdown the system after finishing a scheduled task. - Added minimum drive fragmentation percent parameter "/minpercent" to df.exe. - Improved 64-bit drive analysis speed. - Added missing strings to translations. - Minor bug fixes.
  22. Still not recognizing BitDefender Antivirus in v1.10.248 on my Win7 Pro SP1 x64 laptop as shown here: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/o3CAyjVfmInldFppJM9dhaH
  23. The same happens on my Win7 Pro x64 laptop (restore points deleted after running Defraggler). I even have C:\System Volume Information\* in the Exclude section. I've just gotten in the habit of creating a manual restore point right after Defraggler completes. Restore points are created properly from this point forward until the next time I run Defraggler.
