I used to play American football (I'm irish before anyone comes out with 'so ...?'), and I also wonder how a game that should last an hour (2 hr inc. breaks - tops) can be made to last 4+ hours on Superbowl night ??? Actually, just realised it's a 4 hours Budweiser advert !!

The ability to add a file / files(s) to the PendingFilesRenameOperations key (as in index.dat etc. files) For example, my internal modem continually writes to a log file (even tho I no longer use dial-up ) which I cannot delete (but I know I can delete it it when using the above key method)

Installed beta, and all working fine at my end - as far as I can tell this could be the final release Just one teeny-tiny thing (which may have already been reported - if so, forgive me !) - when you click on 'Check for updates now..' on the main screen, the loaded page tells me a new version is available - version v1.26.218 even though the beta is 1.27.xxx. Now, I know technically v1.27 is not a final release, so in theory v1.26.218 is a more up-to-date stable release and therefore is actually correct, but I just thought I'd point it out anyway. B.

Also I agree, Eldmannen, I fear for my privacy - I don't really mind being monitored on camera walking down the street (no non-criminal individual should) , but I draw the line at some gov. official listening to my singing in the bath without my consent Mr B.

Most new (UK) cellphones (mobiles) now have a functionality (they make it sound like a feature) such as 'Where am I?' - for a few pence, it shows you a map (within a few metres) of where you are standing. To help you find your way home / neaerst phone-box / cash-point etc. So basically, most of use are already carrying round a GPS system on our phones. It's been around for a while, and will get more advanced. Mr B.

I've been using Norton since (at least 2002), finally installed Sytem Works in 04, started using CC, and installed Norton Internet Security 05 (still got Norton SystemWorks 2004, Norton Utitlies 2002 installed also) ! All are working fine in conjunction with CCleaner (and every other anti-adware / spyware you have mentioned) The only issue I ever had was the Norton Ghost would not allow my system to hibernate / standby. Otherwise all Norton progs work exactly as they say on the tin ! Mr B.

This isn't my quote, but as for Prefetch ... "Prefetch, introduced in Windows XP, stores specific data about the apps. you run in order to help them start faster. Prefetch is an algorithm that helps anticipate cache misses, and stores data on the hard-disk for easy retrieval. The data is located in \Windows\Prefetch, and periodically clearing out the data in this folder (eg. once a month) will improve performance. As new apps are subsequently started, new prefetch data will be created, which may mean slightly reduced performance at first. But with old entries gone, Windows should be able to locate the data it actually needs more quickly. ...deleting Prefetch may increase bootime slightly, but only the next time you boot." I agree, not only to I delete from CC, but once(-ish) a month, I delete the complete contents of the Prefetch folder without any probs. Mr B.

It is fine to have that particular item checked always. As Andavari stated, it only removes the details of the last edited registry key. That is, if you have used RegEdit recently, and re-open it windows checks the location of the last edited key, and conveinently opens Regedit at this location. If you check this option in CCleaner, then the next time you open regedit it opens at the default location. Basically, checking or un-checking this option will not harm your computer. Mr B.

Just a small point, but there already is an option to run CC when Windows starts (under Options / Settings). The other options would be good too ! Mr B.

Hello, My first question is, are u using IE ? If not then ignore me And I may have mis-understood ur problem, so forgive me ! From what I understand, the page u are loading is not displaying properly - looks not completely loaded ? Basic fonts, colours, etc. ? If this is the case it sounds like the stylesheet is not working. This is disable thru IE (Tools / Internet Options - click on Accessability on the General tab) If any of the Formatting options are check, you could have a bland web-page. And before anyone says anything, these all can be changed by messing with the registry also. But if ur not using IE (and why would u ?) then I'm not sure Probably hasn't helped, but good luck ! Burt

Managed to get rid of the (my) UserData problem, and this may work for any other files that seem to be permanently locked. The problem with my userdata is that it appeared to be part of my system restore (not MS) disk image. Anyway, looking at the security tab of the file (in Properties) gave me an error that I could not see anything (but it told my I could take ownership as I was admin) - the Advanced button was avail., and took ownership of the file. OKayed completed, and re-entered the Properties/Security tab. It now showed me the creator of the file - looking very like my registry id (e.g. {S-1-5-21-3840293125-1684184627-323364529-1007), but no other user has permissions on this file/directory. (Under Owner, it said Unknown User) Now add yourself to this list (Add / Object Names (the name you use is not always obvious - try what is under Documents & Settings/xxxx), and give full permissions, and again OK everything The reason, I believe in this case, is that during the creation of the sys. restore disk the comp. crashed - which it did - and it left behind a 'mutant' copy of my system belonging to 'as yet' non-existant user-id. And after I re-booted, no other user now had permissions to this directory, it was 'un-delete'able until now. This probably hasn't helped, but I'd thought I'd get it off my chest anyhow ta, MrB

I know this isn't the answer u need. (In fact it's not even an answer at all:-) It has actually reminded me of a problem I have with a folder that I cannot delete. It is in the root drive (C:\USERDATA). I have convinced myself it has something to do with a restore I did a few days after I bought the m/c (as you do, always try to break 'em!) Since tehn (or as far as I remember) this folder is un-deleteable (is that a word?) - there are no files/folders in it, but it is so damn annoying. I've tried safe mode / dos mode etc to no avail. Help. I'm frickin' annoyed. Ta, B.

Hello, you can also choose to delete these files yourself using the Custom folders option. Maybe eventually this will be added to a later version. B.

Oh how I love CCleaner - can't live without it (where u been all my life ?) Anyway, couple of suggestions ... 1. In Custom Folders, have the same options as with the .INI, ie., recurse, removeself, etc 2. Again in Custom Folders, option to only remove files (eg *.*), BUT not folders (and maybe vice-versa) 3. Show the potential/completed registry changes 4. Give us users a tab of our own (the Applications tab can get a bit over-crowded if u have a lot of apps. !!) Maybe even an 'Other' option ? 5. aah I've forgotten Anyway, thanks for the best app yet - I've had soo much fun ! B.

I remember having that problem, and I think it might have something to do with 'frames' - web-pages within web-pages. And on occasion, the 'inner' web-pages may point to another web-site. I believe IE (and prob. some others) have an option to (security settings) dissallow navigation across sub-domains (something like that) which I understood to not allow a web-site to load any other website/images/scripts. I'm not 100% sure, but I do remember this annoying me too. Hope this helps, B.
