  1. If you Google winmx people are posting a variety of workarounds in various forums. I'm not familiar with winmx but they might be worth a try...
  2. I tried to quote your comments rridgely but I couldn't figure out how OK, I'm watching Antiques Roadshow and they're appraising a chair that somebody made out of an elk. Anyway, aside from the fact that apparently Toyota's gone INSANE there's another problem. Unless Toyota is going to market special pants and underwear to go along with their new Medicatedlotionmobile, apparently we'll need to be half naked or at least wearing the infamous open-in-the-back-paper-hospital-gown we all know and love if we want to take full advantage of the car's special features. And will anyone anywhere ever again at any time under any circumstances want to ride in anyone else's car? "Thanks for the ride lokoike! Been a while since I've had a ride in the old beater. You don't see too many blue cars these days with brown upholstery on the seats. Kind of a wierd color scheme. I mean the doors are white and the dashboard too. Even the headliner's white. Why would they make the seats brown... OH MY GOD GET ME OUT OF HERE!" It's like a Seinfeld episode that's gone terribly wrong. As for the mood sensing steering wheel that will turn the car in to a warning beacon that all other drivers will have to avoid if they know what's good for them, maybe people won't have to flash their high beams, jam on the brakes, yell and point (with the finger we only use to point with on special occasions) quite so often. The drawback will be that every other car will be glowing like the space shuttle on re-entry. Meanwhile, across town where things are quieter two neighbors are talking: "Hi Bob! Hey did you find out of you wife is pregnant?" "Well we thought she was but she took a ride in our Hyundai Sonagram and the results came back negative. She took it kind of hard." "Yeah, I kinda figured she was upset when her headlights burned the backs of my retinas the other day." "Did you ever buy that car you were raving about? You were pretty excited about finding a car that old in such great shape. I remember you said it didn't leak a drop of fluid anywhere." "No I didn't get it after all. There were some issues... I was going over the paperwork and found a problem." "The Title?" "No that was fine and the Bill of Sale looked good too. Unfortunately, the Bill of Health for the driver had a problem." "It wasn't notarized?" "No, that was OK, let's just say the car wasn't leaking any fluids." Seriously though. We don't need all that high tech stuff. All we need are the simple features we asked for all along. Headlights that can make laser beams, 2 foot pointed steel spikes that come out of the sides of the wheels, and an exhaust system that can produce a smoke screen when we need one. What's the holdup?!? The Batmobile and the Mach V had those way back in the Sixties! On the lighter side if you write ATOYOTA it reads the same forwards, backwards, AND IN A MIRROR! Sorry this post wanders around so much, I wrote it in my Rambler. Rambler! Get it? Well now I'm all worked up and psychotic. Luckily my mental health facilitator prescribed me a new Charger with the Electroshock Therapy option. Should be all Chargered up by now... bzzzzzaaaaaZZZAAPPP!!
  3. You forgot something?! I guess there's a first for everyone, even the legends. Hope CaPMan doesn't find out... If your mind goes, we're all in trouble!
  4. Thanks agumon, I try to be funny be without coming across as stupid or annoying... One thing people say makes Firefox more secure is that it won't run ActiveX which a lot of malware uses to get into computers without being noticed (until it's too late). I think maybe Internet Explorer would be more secure if it was easier to understand what settings to use for security like on "Intenet Zones," ActiveX, Privacy, Advanced, etc. It seems like they're set too low and malware gets in but if you set them higher there's a lot of pop up boxes always asking if you want to allow this or that to run. And since it's used on over 90% of computers it attracts the most attention from the idiots who create malware. But my favorite thing on Firefox is that you can use the Adblock and Remove This Permanently extensions to get rid of all the annoying advertising that moves around and flashes on and off to distract you all the time. It seems a lot of people like Opera (especially now that it's FREE!) but it's so different from IE or Firefox it takes a while to get used to.
  5. Thanks everyone for the help. The mistake I was making was that I was trying to insert the thumbnail code by clicking on the "IMG" tab and pasting it into the box that popped up. I didn't realize the thumbnail code should be pasted directly into the body of the post. Sorry for the confusion. agumon I meant no offense, sorry if what I said came out wrong. I didn't even know what I was trying to say. Thanks again! it sucks being me...
  6. I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
  7. Heck, I bet we could post all 450 in one day
  8. How do I place a thumbnail in a post instead of the full size picture? Do I have to use Internet Explorer? I'm still using Outlook Express and I guess it defaults to IE when following a link in an e-mail. Can I change that in Program Access and Defaults or should I just switch to T-Bird? As always, Thanks!
  9. I read about this site somewhere but I don't have any idea if it's safe to use. I'm hoping someone sees this post and can advise you if it's OK. It's called Bootdisk.com and if you can't find your disks maybe it's worth a try. You need to donate $4.00 via PayPal to access the files and programs being offered. I'm sure it would be best if you can find your original disks or get OEM replacements and/or more advice from someone more experienced than me. That being said, best of luck, hope you get things figured out OK...
  10. Firefox: More secure Open source, you can add tweaks and mods easily if you wish Useful extensions to do just about anything you want or need or dared to dream of Updated fairly frequently Faster Doesn't allow ActiveX to molest your computer Lots of themes for customizing appearance Not evil Bill Gates probably uses Firefox when he thinks no one is looking Internet Explorer: Created out of antimatter in an evil universe from beneath the Dark Side Seriously though, in this and many other forums one of the first recommendations made to people who have had to clean malware off their systems is to switch to Firefox. The only thing IE is used for by most people now using Firefox is for downloading Windows Updates. There is now a site for downloading Windows Updates via Firefox but the jury is still out on whether it's a good idea to use it since it's not an official MS source.
  11. I don't want to know what the stick shift will be used for... My doctor the car.
  12. Hello- A possible solution- Go to Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>sounds and highlight "default beep" and select 'none' in the sounds dropdown menu. You could also Google "shutdown beep" for more info....
  13. This reminded me of something I read a while ago... SAN DIEGO, CA-May 3, 2005 ? Nethercomm Corporation, the leading innovator of subterranean broadband communications, announces the development of Broadband-in-Gas (BiG) Technology. This technology is designed to effectively multiply the current available bandwidth of cable television and all other broadband systems with data capacities exceeding ten gigabits. Broadband-in-Gas delivers unmatched levels of connectivity by making use of Ultra Wideband technology to wirelessly broadcast information in a way that is both safe and reliable by using the private spectrum isolated within natural gas pipelines . 14. I didn't know Flash files could be saved in Firefox. Here's how: In Mozilla Firefox, just right click anywhere on the page and click "View Page Info" (or find it in the "Tools" menu) and click on the media tab. Then select the desired .swf file from the list and click "Save as..." I've found that I have to right click outside the Flash animation for it to work. .
  15. Hello all- Do you use a desktop search application? I was using Google desktop search but it was slowing my startup quite a bit so I got rid of it. I was wondering: Do you find it helpful? What features do you like or use frequently? Is there one you prefer and if so why? Are there security issues or computer issues when using one? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
  16. Thanks! My start page is the FireFox start page which is basically Google Search. Disabled the CustomizeGoogle Extension I recently downloaded and that seems to have fixed it. I didn't know that scripts were specific to web pages. The error message was appearing before any pages had loaded so I thought it was a FireFox issue. Muchas Gracias
  17. Hello- Have any of you seen this warning? Does anyone know how I can find the script and/or troubleshoot the problem? Thanks in advance...
  18. Hello- I found a website that my warped sense of humor finds very funny. It's by a car reviewer for the London Times named Jeremy Clarkson. "There?s something I?ve found out as well. If you buy any car from that part of the world, you will be seen as a bore. Invitations will dry up, your kids will refuse to speak to you, your wife will sleep with your friends and you may end up committing suicide. " The reviews are usually two pages, the first page is usually a rant about some-thing-or-other, often nothing to do with cars at all. The second is the car review itself. It can be found here.
  19. LOL! BTW, congrats on your new site. Very well done!

    9/11

I read that FEMA is now required by law to direct 1/3 of all its money to anti-terrorism. It's kind of scary that we've been told how prepared we are now for an attack, which almost certainly will come without warning, and yet the response to Katrina shows that in many ways we're not.

    9/11

If you or anyone may be interested, The NY Times has an extensive archive of transcripts from interviews with the first responders. The interviews were done quite some time after 9/11 but they offer a first hand view of that terrible day. It is located here.
  22. Although this doesn't seem to be your only problem with SpyBot, you can hit "A" for accept or "D" for deny when the window pops up. They are aware of the problem but it seems strange it's taking so long to fix it...
  23. I'm not Eldmannen but I know the answer (for a change!): OpenGL is the vendor-neutral, multi-platform standard for high performance 2D/3D graphics on devices ranging from mobile phones to PCs to Supercomputers. The program runs on my ancient computer (made about the time our own sun was forming) so you should have no problem. It's a pretty cool program. OK, I didn't know the answer, I looked it up... that's as close as I usually get to actual knowledge.
