Ok, my use of the word "caution" was not exactly what i meant but it still brings my point of what it's used for.
There is no coding standards for this. But regarding my point, look what it has done by being grey. It's brought your attention to it. which could be a reason for why piriform have done this.
The only other instance that i know this method is used is to show that in the default setup, this check is not included.
Only piriform can confirm why they have done this. I'd be quite interested in hearing from them why it is.
But the fact stands that the checkbox is clearly still enabled regardles of it's text color. My screenshot shows this perfectly.

why replace ad-aware with malwarebytes? keep both no harm in that
There is no harm in keeping your old car once you have brought a new one. But it takes up space & chances are you wont be using it,

Also please turn that off in the install procedure. If someone wants it, make them check the box. Too many Microsoft screw-ups for years are all based on those checkboxes being defaulted to "YES" when they should have been defaulted to "NO".
You can't blame an applications settings for your own silly misstakes. There is no set rules for what is default.
Please try and take the time to read a option carefully.

Hmm, not sure how true this is. Try turning your av off for a second. Download from ccleanrs official site. and try it again.
apparently this is a possible solution. Dont quote me on it though.

and if your paranoid, or up to no good, use the Private Browsing mode under "Tools" in firefox.
ISP can still see what you are up to

Would never install it any where. I did a test a few years back on a completly clean pc, new install, and it reported infections.

Hello, I have downloaded Ccleaner from the site and also tried file hippo. I get the message: ccsetup223.exe is not a valid win32 application when clicking on the downloaded file on the desktop.
I have a Dell 64 bit laptop. Is there something wrong with the file? I downloaded to another identical laptop a previous version. I have searched and not found anything. Any ideas? thanks

Since Firefox does NOT have a function to clean the history of the "Address Bar" i've used CCleaner but CCleaner as well does not clean the address bar history of firefox :-(
FF & CC both clear the history

what do you mean you cannot delete it.
Error message? just reappears?

It would be nice to let the installer remember the options supplied on the 'Install options' page.
Now I have to provide these options every time there's new version. This is quit annoying...
- If you don't want the 'tool bar' options remembered (I can understand this), you might move that option to an extra installer page.
I don't understand why the other options are not remembered. This is default functionality for (almost) all installers
Regard,
R
Exacly as Keithuk said, what happens if a user decides to change /his/her mind????
Also there is no such thing as a default installer. Ther eis no set guidelines for coders to abide by when they are creating installers.

Youngbear replies:
Should I understand your reply to mean that if I do not empty the recycle bin, but wait for CCleaner to do it for me, that those files will be properly deleted? Further, if I choose to click on "wipe free space" that if I then run Recuva any other files I may have deleted myself will not be found?
If my understanding is correct, then you have helped me to accomplish a workable system, and I thank you!
For give my sloppy answer but going to bed,
The answers are yes, No
if ccleaner over wites the file it should not be able to be recovered. Emptying recycle bin normally wont delete a file.

Deleting registry entrys automated is a terrible idea. And something i would never suggest any one do.
CCleaner could run a million times fine. then mess up. it only takes once. Do you even check the entrys you are fixing or just click fix? :/
-
Could this have negative consequences?
the second instance just wouldnt find any thing to delete

You can clearly see the chkbox is enabled. Only the label is colored, which is what i said above.
It's an advanced section. Options that dont 'have' to be run, or should be more experienced knowing what they are. It's a practice used.
How else do you suggest go about trying to tone down these options to the newer less experienced users? Have a password that only piriform mods and admins can give to us?

When I started using ccleaner recently I was fooled by the greyed-out check boxes. The convention used by most software is that this means that the option is not available (which generally also equates to not selectable). Not the case in ccleaner and the boxes I'm thinking of can be selected ... can't see why it's been designed that way!!
[Not that you're necessarily referring to the same 'feature' of course]
Hello, a graye dout label + checkbox has a property of enabled = false,
a grayed out label can mean approach with caution. It's a common practive.

What I do for myself and other who I help clean up there computer with junk and viruses:
I create a folder on the desktop and name it Utility Tools. Inside this folder I add the shortcuts too programs such as Ccleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, MalwareBytes, SuperAntispyware, Spybot Search & Destroy, SpywareBlaster, Windows Defender, Antivirus program, Revouninstaller, and Cleanmem.
i think you should add this to my documents, i hate cluttered desktops. i only recyclebin there. Nothing else. i do have rocketdock tho.
as for the idea, i agree pririform should add the items to a folder.
i also agree with fleet, i dont think any thing should be forced into the start menu other then default browse, client

ccleaner helped you get rid of the virus? How it do that? It has not capabilities to detect virus/malware etc.
I doubt it would of deleted it, since the chances are it was in memory.
TBH i would suggest doing more scans for a possible virus.
Are there any unusual entrys in msconfig? (start - run - msconfig - and look in startup?)
download malwarebytes and scan.
I suggest you post in spyware hell and give more infomation, piriforms forums only allow there own team to deal with these issues so i wont comment any more
