  1. No can of worms, you made a discussion. which is good. One that every ones viewpoint is valid since it concerns a UI.

Ok they are buttons 'as you say' (not checked) was only guessing. So they made buttons look like tabs? It was the choice of them to do so. I'm not about to second guess coders of ccleaner who are miles a head with coding then i am.

Regardles of why they choose to. I like it. And i'd be interested in hearing your point from a coders perspective to why you would not have chosen the UI as it is now.

This is not an argumentative post to whats right. I am just generally interested in your POV.

It could always lead to me thinking to different ways

  2. I'd say no to that since RapidShare can be used legitimately, it would be like banning cars because someone once drove one while drunk, as an analogy.

Thats a good view of it. I was more thinking linking files here is not so much welcomed. But learn something new each day. I to also use rapidshare.

Guess we can't blame the site for stupid users. Althought they do intend to encourage it

  3. index.dat is not deleted after running ccleaner. It cant be. It's constantly in use. It's marked down for deletetion on system start up.

    More more information on index.dat

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Index.dat

One of their main complaints is that the index.dat files cannot be deleted or erased easily, because they are always open when Windows is running. Open or "locked" files cannot be deleted in any way when the process using them is running. Also, when this file grows larger, degraded web performance will occur.
  4. thanks Vic, you are indeed correct.

But personally I would still not cut off the right hand side of a button

    cheers,

    Daniel

why not? I'm very much the same as dennis and have always viewed them as tabs. Which i'd guess is what piriform intended to do all along. I doubt they are 'button's any way, Most probably some customly made ActiveX controls, that i must add look pretty sexy.

CCleaner has a fantastic UI

  5. Hi Boys,

Since deleteing the files I now can't add attachments screenshots etc in my forums.I click on attachments but it is dead. This is only a problem in FF. I have no problem IE & Google Chrome.

    Badcompany.

Sounds like no script again. I would not rely on using the menu that pops up. Add the site manually to the whitelist.

  6. I have read 20seconds into this thread.

"Cleanup module unsafe and dangerous. I have spotted multiple cases in which CCleaner deletes valid Registry entries"

    ccleaner does NOT DELETE ANYTHING

    only users can delete entrys.

do not blame a great piece of software for stupid users misstakes.

  7. I could write a ten page eassy for you to read here. But there would be little point. Google contains a great wealth of information.

The simple answer is yes, you do. But do we all. No. I wont go down this road as i dont want to confuse you. The bottom line here is, bassing my answer on your question is you very much do. To ask that question shows you maybe new to owning a computer.

The first thing you should ask your self is, Am i going to buy an AV or use a free one? With so many great free ones there is not a great need to buy one.

Every one has there own choice of what they use as a AV, Here is a list of a few

    Avast

    Nod32

    Prevx

I'm sure more will be listed but i must run

  8. Possibly the catch has messed up.

Delete these three files. It will not harm firefox in any way or change anything.

    filePath = "C:\Documents and Settings\Sam\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\5jzf3e8r.default\extensions.cache"filePath2 = "C:\Documents and Settings\Sam\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\5jzf3e8r.default\extensions.ini"filePath3 = "C:\Documents and Settings\Sam\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\5jzf3e8r.default\extensions.rdf"

I pasted this from a script i wrote so edit the user name and your profile folder will be different.

  9. Hello, I hope you are doing well.

I was trying out the different features of Ccleaner (I have been using Ccleaner for years, but this is the first time I've used it for Windows 7), and checked Wipe Free Space. It's been running for some time, and now it's only 6% done. I have a 320GB hard drive, and only a small part of it is used, so I foresee a very long process ahead.

I would like to cancel this, but am not sure if it is completely safe to. If I cancel it, will my hard drive or any part of my computer run into problems? And if I do cancel it, is there anything else I have to do? Please give me any information I need.

Also, can I partake in other activities (e.g. using Photoshop and playing games) while Ccleaner is running on Wipe Free Space?

    Thank you,

    Vic

No harm should come by cancelling it. How ever you may notice an increase of disk space used which ccleaner creates a file while wiping free space.
