  1. It is no fun seeing the bar upon completion and then, it has to start all over again(removing other files).

You mean to tell me you actually sit there and watch the bar? Why? Just let it run and carry on.

It's not a progress bar any way. It's there to show you the programme is still active. There has been loads of threads for people asking this. I don't exactly see a benefit for the feature. It's not like CCleaner will be running for hours.

  2. Maybe not the most useful idea ever, but.... maybe being able to choose what is deleted at system startup? as well as having certain set options when CCleaner is run with the context menu.

You can obviously select what is cleaned when CCleaner is running. But there are certain options that i just dont need at system startup. For one Empty of recycle bin.

It just generally comes down to for me is to try and speed it up a little bit more when windows loads.

  3. Hello ident,

The latest CCleaner v02.05.555 seems slower to many users who use secure delete.

Prior versions were not secure deleting everything. If you are using secure delete you will see an increase in time especially when you select more than 1 overwrite.

Overwriting more than 1 time is a waste of time.Nobody is going to go to the expense of forensically

analyzing your overwritten files unless you have highly classified information. It is just too hard to do and too expensive to do.

This version runs faster than previous versions for me.I do not overwrite any data on a normal basis.

    :) davey

Thanks for the helpful reply. It actually makes sense now. Yes for some reason i use 35 overpasses. God knows why when im just deleting basic stuff like txt files. old films, music etc.

come to think of it why? for some reason i just dont like the thought of deleting stuff, actually being recovered. Not that im hiding ne thing.

    make sense?

Just set it to one now

  4. I no two very much different bit's of software, But i just wanted to know other peoples opinions.

Iv used CCleaner a long while now and i think it's brillient(up to this latest version)

I have CCleaner to run at startup(takes years now(i know ther eis topics about the speed of it in latest version but have not yet read why))

But when it comes to right clicking recycle bin i have been using eraser now as it is so much faster(i no CCleaner does alot more when erasing)

it just seems to take for ever now :(

  5. I know glarys has this, But i dont want glarys on my computer(personal choice)

so im looking for just a 'empty folder finder' nothing more, nothing less. I dont want other tools/clean ups etc

    thanks

  6. under vista and firefox, and with the delete cookies box unchecked, all my carefully saved cookies were deleted. nice going, cant wait to try defraggler.

    Oh no, not your cookies

  7. Add a utility to CCleaner to allow the program to Wipe Free Space. What this will do is make it impossible for people to use a data recovery program to get information back. A security precaution. Also, very useful for people who use and/or carry around portable USB drives or hard drives because then if the device is found, someone can't do an undelete operation and find private information.

I would not use this feature if CCleaner had it. I like very much the size of CCleaner. If i needed this method of cleaning i would use eraser. Just my opinion though.

  8. hey bro i use to use Registry Mechanic, and glary but both started to cause me problems..so i just use CCleaners Registy tool along wth Wise Registry Cleaner.

I use CCleaners built in one to. But as they say themselves it is not the best. I will give the other one a try though

  9. Now it makes sense. There is no point recovering them to erase them as the original unrecovered file will still be on the disk. So you are just recovering a copy of the file and erasing it, the original will still be on disk till it is overwritten. You can use Eraser to overwrite free space which will overwrite all recoverable files. Or as already mentioned just use DBAN before you sell it on.

The 'Custom files and folders' tickbox IS there, in the cleaner section, under the Windows tab, advanced section at the very bottom

Thanks very much for all the help.

  10. Have you ticked the 'Custom files and folders' box at the bottom of the advanced section?

Still don't understand why it seems to not be erasing your recycle bin though, are you using the latest version? Perhaps you could test it as I did to be absolutely certain by creating a notepad file with a unique name, deleting it to the recycle bin, running CCleaner then seeing if it can be found by Recuva.

Firstly i checked advanced section and ther eis no custome files and folders'

i am running latest version, always do

I just created a txt file. deleted then tryed recova, and no it didnt find it.

so my problem is now, why when i use recova to recover files. then redelete them is it still finding them?

Is it something to do with the trace thATS already been left is still there. and it recovers the file. and even if that files deleted the previous trace is still there?

  11. This is getting even worse, i go to tools/include and add a folder in it, with a few test pictures to see if it is working or not, when pc powers up i get an animateed CCleaner icon in system tray, showing activity.

go to the folder and its still there with its contence

    :/

    im running latest version

  12. You're saying these are regular pics/files (as opposed to temp files etc)? If so have they actually been deleted by CCleaner and if so how, was the folder they were in added as a custom folder in CCleaner or were they deleted to the recycle bin then erased by CCleaner?

That's the option I'd go for if I was selling on a computer.

Hello, yes these are all pictures (regular) I delete them to recycle bin then wipe with CCleaner? should the folder be added to CCleaner?

  13. ARE you using IE also.

If so THIS link should help.

    http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showto...amp;#entry93980

IF not IE files what files are they?

Hi, i dont use IE, i use firefox, (even though my sister uses IE and i did wonder what all the internet pictures that iv never saved where doing there.) but that check box was still unchecke din IE

    any way.

These files are picture files. My dad designsCustom bulkheads for offices and lots more. We are selling this computer and he does not want his private information still on the computer.

But i can still recover these files.

    I'm thinking dBan?
