  1. Yup. To the OP: Look at afterdawn.com for help ripping into the format you want! x264 > * !
  2. For a few bucks a month you can get webhosting with plenty of bandwidth. I use http://www.elixant.com/ Hope this helps.
  3. Well, it really depends on if you can afford it or not. There will always be price drops. Nothing AMD is going to release any time soon will cause a huge drop in the Conroe price. Get what you want, when you want, it's your money.
  4. Well I don't really agree with either of you guys. Have either of you guys ever taken the guard off of a fan and tossed something at the blades? Chances are, you're not going to get anything, no matter how small, through the spinning blades. It's the same concept here. When you're driving at higher speeds (70kph, ~40mph), those things are going to "cover" the whole side of the tire. Edit: And at certain speeds, I'd bet the centrifugal force on the tire will keep those things pretty stiff - meaning the quicker you drive, the more forceful your impacts.
  5. Bah, nothing compares to foobar2k.
  6. I recently switched webhosting, and one of the perks was that they gave me a free domain. I'm just wondering what I should do with it.
  7. Well... you end up taking two tests (within 90 days of each other). One is more general, and the other a tad more specific. The biggest thing I've noticed about this field is that it's not really the certification that helps, just the experience you have. The A+ certification helps you get your foot in the door, and I certainly wouldn't expect anyone to be able to do any sort of hardware job well if they couldn't run through the exams. If you're interested in it, I'd first join some hardware-biased forums (OC Forums, GTG, others), and look to your local university for some exam prep books.
  8. I've had this installation of XP for almost 8 months now (has to be some sort of a record, I know), and I have never found anything with Kaspersky, Nod32, AVG, Avast, CA, or ClamWin. Does it have to do with my browsing habits? Or am I just lucky. I am behind a router, and I know having the hardware firewall helps, but it just seems too phenomenal.
  9. Speed really shouldn't be the priority factor when it comes to defragging your hard drive. I defrag on a twice-weekly basis, and I do it overnight. I don't know how long it takes, but I do know that there is almost always a noticeable difference in performance (Guild Wars is one of those apps/games that heavily fragments your hard drive).

Modblue works fine here with just the self-extracting .exe.
  11. Not all black metal is satanic.
  12. Heh, you can never complain about an FTP client that forces you to keep an offline backup when you do eventually botch your online copy .
  13. I've been using UltimateDefrag... it's pretty nice. OO Defrag was also good.

You can get Modblue, which I think is pretty nice, here: http://www.customize.org/details/38014
  15. The FireFTP extension for Firefox has proven to be better than any other client for me.

    itunes alternative?

You may consider Rockbox for you iPod. It's a firmware update that allows you to play FLAC files. You don't use iTunes at all with it - you just drag the mp3s from your PC to your MP3 player. iTunes is hideous.
  17. There is a lot more to headphones than how loud they get .
  18. Work great compared to what? The earbuds that ship with your mp3 player? Sony's products are a joke. Please, if you intend to spend a single dime on headphones avoid them. You can get a much better product from brands like Koss, Shure, and Sennheiser. Go to an audiophile forum and ask if you like.
  19. I own a Sandisk Sansa e250 (2GB, see Sandisk.com). It is the greatest thing in the world. MP3, WMA, and .MOV playback, it gives me 16 hours of mp3 decoding before it drops. There is on-the-fly recording, FM recording, it's about the size of a Nano (a little bit thicker), and it's durable as all getup. The software is really easy to deal with (I strongly recommend updating the firmware). And I have two pairs of headphones: Koss Spark Plugs are my earbuds, and I have a pair of Senheisser PMX-100s for superaural use. Both sound excellent. The Koss Spark plugs are my #1 recommendations to anyone who wants a set of earbuds without dropping 80$ for Shure e2cs! Headphones are a great investment. Edit: NO, DO NOT, FOR YOUR SAKE, BUY SONY HEADPHONES - THEY ARE A WASTE OF MONEY. Read my post for headphone recommendations.

    Case vibrating...

I don't have a digital camera, so no, I cannot. What are you looking for? There are pictures of it at Rosewill's site... http://www.rosewill.com/product/product.aspx?productId=440 The problem was happening, however with my older case as well.
  21. http://xs309.xs.to/xs309/06462/as.jpg I apologize for the crappy quality but I sympathize with low-bandwidth users . Anywho, it'll become more minimalist when I get home, and I'll update. Update: http://xs109.xs.to/xs109/06464/eeeeeee.jpg

    Case vibrating...

When it happens, if I put pressure on the side panel, it stops, but that clip was taken with the side panel off. So it's not the side panel. It's not a cheap case either. I'll pull it apart in a couple hours, see if there are any screws that need to be disciplined .
