  1. Considering how often google visits these forums, does that mean if someone included their website in their signature, that it would result in google visiting their website? Seems to me that this could be a good way of promoting a website to the search engines, only reason I ask is that I have never had any success in promoting my websites, I sometimes think it could be because they are hosted for free on Geocities, but then other people with sites on Geocities manage to get them listed. Taruns site appears very high in the google listings, just by typing in lunarsoft, and djlizard appears at the top, has this always been the way tarun and dj, or has your sig in forums helped.
  2. What about giving Firefox a try anyway, it is a much more secure browser anyway, due to the fact that most malware is designed to exploit security flaws in IE. You never know it might just cure your problem.
  3. What browser are you using? Is it internet explorer? If it is, have you kept your computer up to date using windows update? I am just thinking it could be a conflict between zonealarm and an outdated version of IE. Have you tried using a different browser such as Firefox?
  4. Sorry, was that pic there before? It is not program access that is a problem then. You are actually allowing to much access. Change all the ticks to crosses under the server column, it wont help the problem but needs to be done.
  5. Thats spot on, Vanguard.
  6. What do you mean all programs are on green bavaria? they should have a tick or a cross or a question mark next to them in the access column.
  7. You need a new thread to tax your brain Dj. Its kinda quiet at the moment, I guess.
  8. Thats quite a cool comment, it is kind of strange that to stop a computer you have to click a button called start.
  9. If you know the make and model of your computer, go to the Crucial website, use the Crucial Memory Advisor? Tool, when you get to the last stage of it you will be told the maximum RAM allowed in your computer.
  10. What version are you trying to use at the moment, free or pro? Could you open up zonealarm, then click program control on the left hand side, click the programs tab top right, you will now see what is being allowed or disallowed to the internet. Could you print screen this and post it in here, so we can see it? Or just tell us if that is easier.
  11. I will leave you to it for now, it is 2am and I need sleep, if it is not sorted next time I check I will try to help you more. Good Luck.
  12. Just do what rridgely suggested first. Right click the ZoneAlarm icon in the notification area (down by the clock). Try the internet again. But not for too long.
  13. I should have suggested that, rather than assuming it was zonealarms fault.
  14. I use the free version myself, I dont pay for software if I dont have to. Give that a try then, uninstall zonealarm pro, run CCleaner, install zonealarm free version. We will start again from there. If that is successful, please post so that I know.
  15. Do you mean the log of the EasyCleaner cleaning, or the log of the CCleaner cleaning? Either way I will post.
  16. Was your computer clean of malware when you installed zonealarm? This is really important because, if not you could have a missing root certificate which is normally the handywork of malware. This would bring up the 404 error amongst other things. Root certificates are normally only checked during installation of a program whereas zonealarm checks them all the time during normal use. What security programs do you have and use?
  17. What version of zonealarm are you using? Is it the latest one? Are you using default settings or have you changed anything? This was a common problem a few versions ago, i myself suffered it, and had to uninstall, then reinstall an older version until they fixed the problem. When you say the site dont load, what happens? do you get a 404 error? Repost with more info, and i'm sure we will get it sorted.
  18. I don't know whether it is the same worldwide, but if a guy was asked the details of a car that was perhaps involved in an incident or something, he would probably be able to give a fairly good description such as Make, Model, Year, Colour, etc. Whereas a girl would probably say "oh, it was a green one". Anyway went to my local supermarket to buy my lottery ticket yesterday, and walked past a guy with 2 girls and overheard him say "I don't know what car I am learning to drive in, but it is a silver one". Some guys are getting more effeminate by the day I think. Sorry to any girls who are a bit more knowledgable, I am not being sexist, but just needed to tell this little story.
  19. Just to add my tuppence worth, My computer gets turned on at about 3pm when the kids get home from school and stays on until I go to bed, (as I am the last to use it), at about 12.30am. Weekends it could be on from midday until 2am, and we just press the sleep button on the keyboard and turn the monitor off if we are all going out for a while. This has always been my routine and works for me.
  20. I can't help with the CCleaner problem, but would just like to state, if you dont mind, that you should really have upgraded to Windows XP SP2 by now, it is only a matter of time before microsoft stops providing updates for people who have not updated to SP2.
  21. If I run CCleaner, then run EasyCleaner afterwards, EasyCleaner cleans loads of files with the extension microsoft\office\recent.LNK, which have obviously been missed by CCleaner, yet I have CCleaner set to clean recent files. Is this a bug? If not is it something that could be added to a future version of CCleaner. Keep up the good work MR G.
  22. v1.13 on 5/10/2004. How about that, I gave you a date as well.
  23. Tarun, where did you get your last avatar from?, the one with the big spiky hair, my youngest son thought it was great and he wanted to copy it, but now its gone, was it from a game?
  24. Sorry, for two replies in a row but was not sure how to put 2 quotes into 1 post. Tarun, nice one, the chance was there for the taking.
  25. The game was called Rubbish, and to honest it did live up to its name, I am sure that is why they published it, it was in a magazine called Sinclair Programs. The idea was the player could move across the top of the screen only, shooting at the rubbish that was steadily but surely building up below him, once the rubbish reached the top of the screen or the player ran out of bullets the game was over.
