    What the ?

I think that Google is a pretty great search engine. www.google.com
  2. Hmm, it indeed is strange how a whole lake can suddently just disappear over night.
  3. Seems like a good setup. Great choice of CPU too. But the setup depends on what you need the computer for. You have a pretty expensive graphics card, if you're not so much into games, you probably can buy a cheaper one. Creative makes good soundcards. They recently made the X-Fi sound processor. Maybe you can get a Creative Soundblaster card with X-Fi technology or an Soundblaster Audigy 2.
  4. You can right-click on the CD/DVD drive, and select "Eject".
  5. I have deleted unused file extensions many times and its always worked great. So I think it is very safe. And as gunner mentioned, you can always do a backup of the registry first if you wish or have doubts. Andavari and DjLizard, hehe that is silly.

    Freeware!

GIMP http://www.gimp.org/windows/ http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/ Free, open-source, is a image program for create, edit, etc images. It is similiar to Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro, but free and exists for many platforms, Windows, Linux, Mac OS X.
  7. Then if the whole/other part would be coded in C++, then more people could CCleaner more easy since they wouildnt need any VB runtimes. It would also open up doors for porting it to other platforms in the future.
  8. I dont have the "automatic update" setting on. I goto the Windows Update website a little once in a while to manually check for updates.
  9. rridgely, I respect your sincerity.
  10. Yes, listen to him, Tarun, you really need to inform the author about your path you have installed Mozilla Firefox in and other information about your system that could be relevant.
  11. Sorry, I dont watch Fox news, so maybe you could care to explain it for me. Lately, it's been a pretty tense climate on the forum. :s
  12. The default setting is good enough for most users. If you have 512+ mb RAM, then you probably have enough for most things. I have 256 mb RAM, it is not all that much, but it works okay for me.
  13. Never mentioned it does scan for spyware (I know very well it dont), but it a program for people who wish to avoid crap. And spyware falls under the crap category. I feel the climate of this debate isnt very good. :/
  14. As a temporary solution, you can goto Tools -> Options... then click on Privacy then click on the "Clear" buttons in Mozilla Firefox to get rid of history, etc. MrG, dont know if this is any help, but the default path is C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
  15. I am polite, I am not rude, I am just informating about the downsides of such software. And if you wish to bash me, then please do so. I think it is good that you help people as nicely as you can. And as for not wanting to help, I took the time to read the post, I informed the user of the downsides of the software and provided a link to an imho better alternative.
  16. Very kind offer. Kudos to you. You could always link to CCleaner.com though.
  17. I do not mean to insult the author of CCleaner, because I think it is a good program, it does what it is supposed todo, it is simple to use, I used it on all computers in my home, works good, it speeded up the computers, I like that it is free to use and a small and quick download. Now wether you like it or not, want to face it or not, Visual Basic is a crappy inferior language that isnt good for anything outside the garage. And about voting, this place is some kind of democracy? Already enough of me, I just got here. I am not only posting negative comments, it is only natural that bad software gets bad opinions/critique (not refering to CCleaner). I even mentioned some good points in Visual Basic. I also posted many other informative and positive posts and with links to other good software and resources.
  18. VB is pretty much inferior, it is platform limited to Windows systems only and few people have the MSVB libraries needed to run the programs. It is a lousy programming language for kids who just get into their first programming, and it stucks them in their Microsoft world with their software that can only run on Windows platforms. I used to code in VB some years ago, and I have to say it does have some good points too, it is easy, things dont often go wrong, you can develop alot in a short time, RAD (Rapid Application Developement). Also it is very easy to create forms by the very simple drag-and-drop interface. It is easy to use and you can fast learn Socket programming with WinSock and have some fun.
  19. Sorry, didnt pay attention to the thread date. I rarerly do, I am used to fast forums where threads dont stay on the first page for more than a few hours. I like how you refer me to a "thread necromancer", it surerly does got a nice clang to it.
  20. When a company is forcing users to use their product by intentionally breaking compatiblity and using closed standards to prevent alternative software, then that piece of software indeed does deserve some real bashing.
  21. Some programs deserves to get bashed (example, spyware infested mal/nag-ware). Maybe he should change his mind, because a AntiVirus program is supposed to be good at detecting viruses, not have fancy skins with shiny buttons that hogs the processing power and the memory on the computer.
  22. CCleaner is for people who want to avoid spyware and crap. CuteFTP contains the TimeSink spyware, hence it sucks.
