  1. Using Tony as my first name it says there is one or less with my name.

I wouldn't want to be "or less" in your situation.

    Maybe it's a cultural thing.

Either we have a lot of members with very unusual last names or just unusual for the U.S.

I have an unusual last name but there are thousands of households with that name in the U.S.

The figures are slanted or they want a lot of us to believe that it was easy to E-mail us with the junk because there are so few with our name that we were easy to find.

Watch out for the Genealogy E-mails that may be coming. Or worse "Congrats Soandso. You may be the heir to the unclaimed Soandso fortune !!! All we need is a little money and information to verify this."

P.S. On reviewing the prior posts I just realized that #336 seems to be a popular number.

Maybe it is time for some scans ?

  2. I haven;t received any responses to this question.

If I run the portable CCleaner.EXE with the /AUTO option from a command prompt, is there way to generate a log file containing a list of the files that are deleted?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi lwolf,

Not that I have ever seen since being around for the last 11 months.

You might put a suggestion in the box as others have done.

    Good luck,

  3. with the problem solved (beta version).

So that is where it sits now. I think I may wait 10 days just to be safe and then download the trial version again and go ahead and purchase it... Hopefully all will go well.

Thanks to all of you who answered.

Good luck to you. Go ahead and download the FREE VERSION for now.

It has served me well and I wouldn't be without it. It only takes about 7-8 mins. to update and run a Quick scan. I do it daily.

In this situation how have you determined that the "Cookies" are erased and from where?

Have you done a complete system "Search" for "cookies" ? It is possible to have old browser files that are left behind, etc. or they have not been cleaned as you may think.

  6. I would like inform about a CCleaner goal.

Some week a go I had a problem with a Symantec product. No way to solve the problem by phone, then Symantec has remotely accessed (with my permit) to the computer. They thecnic was unable to fix the problem, but i knew it before to start the remote assistence. The funny thing is that during his remote work they have installed CCleaner on the computer in my lab. I think it is a great news to be a tool used/interesting to Symantec tecnichians. I imagine that they have a corporate licence or that they made a big donation to CCleaner to use it on remote in front to the end user.

Some products like CCleaner have a very good reputation with the "best" of technicians.

It is nice to hear your interesting little story as evidence of this.

It is surprising how many "bad guy" programs go after CCleaner and it is not really an anti-virus/anti-malware type program at all.

It is however very thorough in it's ability to be a SAFE, RELIABLE, and EASY TO USE cleaning tool.

    Thanks,

    :) davey

  7. Help would be appreciated.
I have noticed the same behavior.

The new Version seems to be much much slower defragging my Drives.

Thats using Defraggler on Windows XP SP3

Also for me , compared to 1.02 , v1.03 is slow.
Same here, more then 2X it seems.

    Re-installed previous version.

    Using WinXP-SP3, NTFS.

I have the same problem :(

    Thanks for your input.

Can you follow the instructions at this link.

It will help find what is causing your problem.

  8. First off, thank you for such a wonderful lightweight program like Defraggler. When I updated to the new 1.03.093 version I was eagerly anticipating the scheduler option. Unfortunately, I receive an error every time I set up a schedule. I message displayed is "Defraggler was unable to save your savings."

    Thanks in advance.

  9. Thats exactly what I imagined it to look like!

I like your idea of modeling it after the startup tool.

I hope that others like the idea, and its integrated into CCleaner.

Thanks for your help Disk4mat. :D

    CCleaner Rocks!!!

I like the original suggestion and its result as envisioned also.

How about the same for the Exclude option also ?

    You guys ROCK !!!

  10. So you have three systsm installed? Thats a bit dodgy. If you read any reports on virus checkers you only need one installed else they are supposed to conflict with each other. ;)

AVG 7.5 is still supported this month, I've just installed the update today. The must have postponed it again until more users start with v8.0. ;)

Add SUPERAntispyware Free Edition,SpywareBlaster, and WinPatrol to that list.

    Nothing dodgy at all.

I only have one Real-time active at any one time. The others used at different times and kept current. Never know when you might need them, so it is important to have them already installed and up-to-date. None of the scanners have had any conflicts with any activated real-time scanning. That is either Avast or AVG 7.5 . No problems with AVG Rootkit scanning either.

Malwarebytes (MBAM) scan has no problem running while Avast is active. For me at least. Update and Quick Scan takes approximately 7-8 minutes daily.

Have no problems running MBAM scan with Real-time Symantec either on another PC. All others installed on that PC also. Encountered no problems yet other than MBAM finds things that Symantec doesn't or ignores I quess. I do not have Avast installed on that PC yet.

CCleaner cleans them all also. Whenever I want them cleaned, I tick them and untick after. Security logs are of special value to me.

    :) davey

  11. I thought you were using AVG Davey? ;)

Both AVG 7.5 sometimes real-time and mostly Avast.

Love them both plus Malwarebytes Free. for quick update and scan.

    :) davey

  12. I have this very determined software that will not go away. Avast4 which is Alwil software. It is driving me crazy. A family member thought I might like it but it has caused nothing but problems. CCleaner transfers it to clean up but never deletes and it keeps coming up when I analyise the system. Please help.

    Hi Simone,

Welcome to the forums ! :)

You bring up a very important point for many users of Avast4. I am also a user of Avast4.

Avast4 is a very good anti-virus program. As such it prevents "Bad Guy" programs from deleting it's files.

    This is a good thing.

If you do not want to see those files reported then you can untick that option at Cleaner > Applications tab > Utilities list > *Avast Antivirus

    :) davey

P.S. Every now and then you can tick it to clean the buildup of other non-important files and turn it back off.

  13. Davey, are you there somewhere? I liked the trial version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware so I went ahead and bought it. Got the ID and Key, went to register it and got a "Thank you for registering" message. Then went to activate Safety Protection and got a message saying "This feature only works with registered programs". E-mailed Malwarebygte tech group yesterday - not a whisper so far. Any ideas??

    Hi Ed,

  14. I do not have either browser on when I use CCleaner. I have reverted to the previous version at the moment so my unwanted cookies are now removed, I have tried on several occasions to re install but this seems a waste of time as it never works, as I now do not have the cookies displayed I cannot remember all of them I do know that double click is always there.

  16. Hi Hazel

I know exactly! what you mean (HP printers & updates!) :o , I've been down that road!

Me too !!! Unfortunately until I came to the forums and learned better.

For some Manufacturers they should not call them "drivers". They should call them "driveus", as in "drive us crazy".

    :) davey

  17. Had CCleaner 2-3 years, not used for a few weeks. Now it's gone, is not in All Programs or Remove/Delete. I have Win XP SP 2. Do i need to find it or just sign up for a new accoumt or ???

    Hi pillnoodle,

    Welcome to the forums. :D

Yes, download and install again as suggested. No need to register again.

There are "bad guy" programs out there that will try to stop CCleaner from installing etc.

I would also suggest doing some security scans.

If you find any malware then I suggest that you follow the instructions at this link.

  18. Davey, I did as you suggested and e-mailed them.

As I said before - completely my fault, just need to pay more attention - I have been hearing that for over 60 years!!! LOL

I know what you are saying but they need the facts just in case.

You are a good member in my book and my book is 60 yrs. also.

    :) davey

P.S. I take it that you are trying out the full version of Malwarebytes for 30 days.

The free version has no real-time scanning but it does everything else and it scans so fast !!!

  19. I've been using CCleaner for a while now, think it's a great product, thnx.

    Hi Bob,

I was asked if I might have any insight.

The only insight I could have provided was the fact that I spent hours downloading some HP crap so I could uninstall it properly. When I went to install it, it conveniently informed me that I only had 254 MB of RAM instead of 256 MB that I said it had and it refused to install.

My good opinion of HP was slightly affected by that event. :P

My CCleaner always reports 256 MB. So does my System info and all system checkers like MS and Belarc and a few others.

Where HP got 254 MB, I have no idea.

    Go figure !!!

  20. After this last update CCC removes a Notebook shortcut and ALL files it was related to (There gone) from my PC. I went back 1 day with SYS. Restor. and tried again and it was removed again. no other shortcuts were bothered. I made a copy from my EX. Hard drive and tried again but I get a message that the program that the shortcut points to does not exist and i should delete the shortcut????

I never had this problem with the older VER.

    Hello rburrhead,

    Welcome to the forums. :)

I am not sure what is going on with your Notebook program.

CCleaner will remove the Shortcut if you have the option ticked at Cleaner > Windows tab > System list >

Start Menu Shortcuts Or Desktop Shortcuts . It will remove the shortcut only if the shortcut points to a program that no longer exists. That is all that should be removed and only if the program is missing.

Untick both those shortcut cleaning options and let us know what happens.

  21. Because that was the site I was on; clicked the free download, next I know this Advanced Regisgtry, etfc. was downloading.... Looks like I should go ahead and uninstall it....

    Hi edallen,

I all fairness to Malwarebytes, I should point out that this fact. When you saw that "Download" button that you pushed you were actually at a "download" site and not at Malwarebytes site.

You may want to advise Malwarebytes.org about the situation and explain what download site that you were using at the time.

Many members from this forum are also members of Malwarebytes.org because the software and malware removal that they provide is so important to all users.

This is the official Malwarebytes.org web page to download. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

I am certain that Malwarebytes.org would like to get the facts about this from you. It is very important to you and all of us.

    Best wishes,

  22. I have 5 drives totaling 200GB mounted on my D drive. It would help if CCleaner could clean these drives. I have already posted that Defraggler doesn't defrag these drives. I suspect that Recuva also will not be able to recover files deleted on these drives.

    Hi ghost,

It sounds like you know something about these partitions that you are not divulging ?

    What is up ?

Recuva probably has a better chance of getting at those drives than many other programs.

I would give it a try but I am still puzzled by your statement.

    :) davey

  23. Details of files to be deleted (Note: No files have been deleted yet)! How do I delete these files?

    Hello Ray,

Read my post here and follow its instructions to be sure that you are ready.

You may have some other things to do before you delete anything. This information is made for you by me to save you time and effort and possibly save some things that you may want to keep.

    http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=116021

    Good luck,
