Hello mechanic,
Regarding the WDM call returned error 4200, I've had a quick look round and could find 2 people with a similar problem, One found it was caused by Norton firewall and the other by an nVidia driver. Either apply to you?
-
Strange thing is until today when I opened it to reset it, I've never even noticed the options button let alone used it!
-
Has this option just been added or has it always been there?

What has happened to the forum?
Now when you click on a subject you cannot see all the posts. You have to then click on yet another link.
When you go on the forum the next day you are going to have to click on lots of links just to read the thread. For people with slow computers this could be a long job.
Why the change? I don't see much benfit from it.

Hello there cowboy,
Go to start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore.
Pick the option for setting a system restore point and click next.
Choose a name for the restore point so you can find it easy if you need to, and click on create. Click close to finish
EDIT. Woody beat me to it!

Also sidd, if you haven't already done so have a read of this

Your set up sounds reasonable and you obviously take care when online, so happy surfing!

Hello Blue,
When you do file >save as >in paint make sure you save it as a .jpg
Go to imageshack, click browse, find file, and then click host it.
In the options given, click once in the 2nd one.
This will highlight the text. Right-click on the highlighted text and chose copy.
Come back to your post in the forum message box and click paste.

I have no idea if this is what you are wanting arron, but here is a site which tells you how to set levels of access when sharing files with others.
Read down a bit to get to it, it's an interesting read anyway

EDIT
This is a better page I think, as you will read, you cannot password protect shares in xp only xp pro. This explains how to do it.

If you go down to post #10 in the thread neighberaaron gave a link to
http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showto...amp;#entry44256
you will see what caused the thread starter in this case having his restore points deleted all the time. Could anything like that be happening in your case?
Also I believe at one time real player caused this to happen. (I'm sure Tony will know more about that than me)

hazelnut, next time try reading before you reply.

If you're talking about Recent Documents there's two ways of dealing with them other than using CCleaner, these are WinXP instructions:
Already built into WinXP:
- Right click the start button and select Properties.
- Then click the tab Start Menu and select Customize.
- On the tab General you can set the number of programs on the Start Menu to 0, which will stop WinXP from placing a shortcut to recently used programs on the Start Menu. You can also press Clear List to have what's already listed removed.
- On the tab Advanced untick 'List my recently opened documents'. You can also press Clear List to have the current list removed.
How to auto-clean histories using Microsoft Tweak UI:
- In Tweak UI click Explorer, and then tick 'Clear document history on exit'. This will cause Explorer to clear the Recent Documents list, Start->Run history, and URL ("website") history when you shutdown, restart, or log off.
- Click Apply to enable the setting, and OK to exit Tweak UI.
They are good tips I didn't know about.
- Right click the start button and select Properties.

Hello Karf and welcome to the forum
Please read this and use, it usually cures this problem

It seems a strange thing to post saying ccleaner is a great program, and then recommend another one!

Ewido has a file shredder built in which will overwrite 10 times, it's called paranoid mode (Their words, not mine)

I would follow Taruns advice on this Hilamonsta, he knows about things like this. Here is a post about a similar name thing to yours perhaps

I thought that symNRT didn't remove 2001 Norton AV, and to use Rnav 2003 for earlier versions such as this one.
-
As Malcom said he had partially uninstalled Norton, I took this to mean he was retaining other elements of the suite which is why I posted the first link.

Malcolm,
If you go to control panel are you able to click disable next to the notice that says >Auto Protect is enabled on your system?
-
Hello Malcolm and welcome to the forum.
Is this link any help to you?

Perhaps while you are waiting for other ideas you could look at this page for Creative
http://www.creative.com/support/
Near the bottom it has a link to their forums also plenty of tech support numbers.

They use some encrypted files for customers, could it be anything to do with that ?
