  1. I haven't nailed it down to a CCleaner problem, but seems like just after I've installed and used CCleaner a few times, Outlook Express completely stops working and I have to reinstall the operating system to get it back. This is using version 1.32.345. This is an intermittent problem. Any thoughts?

Can you give a few details such as what operating system etc you use., and any other relevant info. Do you use avast by any chance?

  2. Most people would say it's not a good idea to turn off the error reporting service from Microsoft. If no one reports anything, they'll never know there's a problem! See here

Just a thought, you don't have windows firewall turned on as well do you? Or if you just have windows firewall on and not zone alarm, do the error messages go away?

Have you tried this to delete the temp files

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel >Internet Options.

Under the General tab click the Delete temporary internet files,

delete all Offline content as well. Clear out Cookies.

Also, go to Start > Find/search > Files or folders > in the named box, type: *.tmp and choose Edit > select all -> File > delete.

Empty/delete the entire contents of the C:\Windows\temp folder and C:\temp folder, if you have one. (Contents but NOT the folder itself.)

You may have to show hidden files, to do this -

    Open My Computer.

Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.

    Select the View Tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.

Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.

    Click Yes to confirm.

    Click OK.

This may not cure the underlying cause of course.

Thanks for the reply, btw. Your previous post made it sound like you were leaving the forum, and personally I hope you stay. I agree with you that some people here seem to be inclined toward negativity and/or don't respect the opinions of those they disagree with. But what makes this forum worthwhile are the people who really listen to and care about other members and their concerns and at least for now they seem to outnumber by a large margin those that don't. You've helped me in the past and hopefully you'll be around to help people in the future.

Well said, I totally agree :)

  4. I've been having a little look around and True vector part of zonealarm may be be causing problems for you, and microsoft is asking you if you want to report it to them. Has any of this happened ?

As I don't have zone alarm myself hopefully someone who has may give you a bit more info on it.

Have you tried re-naming one of the files to see if you can delete it that way?
