Thanks Hazelnut ,adding ccleaner to Exception List in Trendmicro WORKED
Good to know you are sorted

Unfortunatly Health Check uses it's own set of cleaning rules (not the ones on the left hand side of CCleaner interface)
I don't know how you could get all the info you have lost back.
I suggest that you change to 'Custom Clean' by opening CCleaner.. Options.. Settings and at the top select Custom Clean instead of Health Check. This then will clean what YOU select.
The mods here have asked Piriform about the lack of info and warnings on what Health Check can do to users machines. But to no avail.

So you have installed the Trend Micro upgrade?

Have you tried this?

Perhaps turn off Smart Cleaning in CCleaner ...Options

Question. All of a sudden I cannot open my ccleaner. I can click on it and click on it, and it does not open. Has something changed? I have the latest version as far as I know.
What security software/anti virus do you use?

Update 5.56 is not installing and running properly, after uninstalling, older versions still good.
What anti-virus are you using?

Well you don't have an account when you use the free version.
What happens if uninstall the version you have, restart your machine, and then download the free version 5.65 from here
https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds
If it installs okay you can just register it with your key by opening CCleaner..Options and at the top it will say ''Upgrade to Pro'' Press it and enter your key.

Hi all,
I have Ccleaner professional and have Windows 10 OS Home 64 bit installed. Unfortunately my Ccleaner Pro says I have Windows Vista installed and will therefore not allow me to update to latest version. This is odd as this laptop has never had Vista installed on it ! Assume this is a hang over from installation on a previous machine ?
Stay safe all
What do you mean by ''hang over from installation on a previous machine?

Have you RESTARTED your machine recently?

Also I think it is a safer idea I think to download any software to your machine and then install it from there.
Just personal preference.

I use the free version of ccleaner (on Windows 7, I know out of date) and whilst upgrading ccleaner software through Piriform Ltd to v5.65, the process has given me a choice to add 'Avasti SecureLine VPN' as part of the upgrade.
Is it free (T&C's don't say)? Is it any good? I have been thinking of getting a VPN address, but is this offer more trouble than it's worth? I'm in the UK and have standard email connection via 'BT' ISP broadband provider.
Looks like a 7 day trial to me

Mary what happens if you download instead the Slim Build from here? (Bottom in list)
https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds
Uninstall old build first.

thanks for your helpful comments. I'm using the free version of ccleaner. But I think the problem must be the Trend security because I turned off and ccleaner worked! Is there something I can do to allow ccleaner to run without turning trend off everytime? Many thanks Bil
Contact Trend Micro and ask them to update their definition files so CCleaner doesn't keep getting flagged.

Please don't put licence key numbers etc on a public forum. It belongs to you only
To activate open CCleaner... click on Options, and then at the top where it says Upgrade to Pro click on that and enter your key.
