  1. Recent is a legitimate windows file which can be found on xp in c\documents and settings\user\my recent documents. (may need to show hidden files) It is required for windows to run properly. In windows 98 and ME somewhere different. You haven't by any chance created a folder called recent to put things in have you? As Davey said, please say your operating system and version of CCleaner, and if this has just happened after you updated CCleaner.
  2. Yes, if you google ccSvcHst.exe you will see it's part of symantec (Norton)

  4. Considering JD Power has almost 2000 posts on this forum and you are still in single figures, may I advise you against making remarks such as the one quoted. You are welcome on this forum to join in discussions etc but not to make remarks like that.

  7. The backup for a registry 'issues' clean is saved by default in 'my documents' The file will look like a bit of paper with blue blocks on it and end in .reg. It will have the date on it. To restore the reg entries, right-click on it and choose merge. If you rename the file to help you remember what it is before you use it, make sure you add .reg to the end so it will be saved as a .reg file.
  8. This was what made me ask about the podcasts http://gtone.libsyn.com/ This page may help with the stop errors http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.php Are you able perhaps to make a restore point and uninstall it.?
  9. Hello Hoofmark Try going to options> advanced> and ticking the box for show detailed log of Internet Explorer temp files and run the cleaner. Small bug, which should soon be fixed.
  10. Is it also listed in add/remove programs in your control panel? If you do start> search and do a search of files and folders for this , does it show anything? Do you watch podcasts?
  11. That's why I asked if his av was up to date, I also saw that link

    Tips

Dennis, thanks for this highly essential list, things like splinters in the finger (use sellotape) and buzzing flies (use hairspray) will never bother me again Just for info vinegar is a highly successful treatment for serious ear infections http://journals.cambridge.org/action/displ...&aid=402289
  14. Looks like mbrown you have got it sussed out now. Welcome to the forum
  15. When I press that 'save to text file' button, I get a window that comes up asking me where I want to save it, the default being 'my documents'. Do you not get this window come up? Which version of windows and CCleaner are you using?
  16. Glad you got it sorted ladymichele, and welcome to the forum
  17. When you make an issues backup it is saved by default to my documents and should look like a small piece of white paper with blue blocks on and end in .reg. If however you have renamed the file before you use it to help you remember what it is, it will not be saved as a.reg file. If this is the case, just rename it to end in .reg If this is not the case it may be your file associations are a bit mixed up, are you xp or vista?
  18. Can we stay on topic please here. Users are asking for help with recuva/CCleaner software problems.
  19. Glad it worked, others found the fix, I'm just passing it on
  20. Small bug found which may be what you are experiencing. Try going to options> advanced> and ticking the box for show detailed log of Internet Explorer temp files and run the cleaner.
  21. Did you choose save ( to desktop and then just double-clicked it) and not run when you downloaded it?
  22. Noodling, had to look it up http://www.cabelas.com/information/cabelas...in-Fishing.html
  23. First do a start> search for .dbx files and see if they are still on your computer. If they are, try this free program to get them back. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/dbxviewer.html
  24. If it asked you did you want to make a backup of the issues clean and you said yes, they are put by default in my documents. Looks like a white sheet of paper with blue blocks on (a .reg file) Right click on it and chose merge, choose the latest one first if you have lots. Todays for instance would read cc_20080120
