  1. Here is the Direct Download Link since the Avast website seems to be down Direct Download.
  2. It took me a good half hour but was trouble free. Got it from Wzor at the beginning of the month.
  3. you're talking about the Registry Cleaner I presume. Here is a little FAQ our friend made just in case. Take a look at it: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=25513

    Soluto?

I had it before I reinstalled my Windows. At first I was amazed and all but after a few reboots I don't think it helped too much, plus it has some sort of animation every time Windows is loading where it calculates the time taken to boot. I didn't like that. I prefer having almost nothing at start up, no delays, nothing.
  5. "Microsoft released about 88 updates to Windows Update for Windows 7. The service pack includes 625 updates total so as you can see there are tons more updates and fixes that are included that was never released to Windows Update. So if all you've been doing is keeping your system updated via that way then there's plenty to be had with SP1." - A comment from Neowin.net
  6. I just googled "Registry Reviser" and this is what I got: http://www.filecluster.com/Antivirus-Report/Registry-Reviver.html If you haven't downloaded any such software and the fact that it ended up in the CCleaner folder seems suspicious! I recommend you run a virus scan and remove this and even though CNET is a reputable site, you might as well download via Piriform or FileHippo Piriform FileHippo EDIT: use MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware to remove this. It IS a trojan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/
  7. I think he means... okay, I don't know. 1) Remove Invalid shortcuts. 2) Remove empty folders/shortcuts to folders. 3) Number (2) after (1) as the shortcuts were in that folder and now the folder is empty. Just speculating.

  9. Agreed. Many users have complained about this in the past! Sorry for the inconvenience caused!
  10. Running Windows 7 x64 with UAC disabled no problems detected. No problems with UAC active either. For how long have you been experiencing this? It might have something to do with your graphics card settings. Just guessing.
  11. I don't understand why you would post a similar topic when you already have this going on: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=31164&st=0&p=185928&hl=norton&fromsearch=1entry185928 I did search the CCleaner forum for any Norton related issues and found none and if I were you, I'd take Andavari's advice.
  12. Eh, honestly if I were you I'd go over to a different forum with all the linux kids and seasoned geeks but then thats just my opinion. Piriform products being a Windows-only applications attract most Windows users here. I have tried messing around with Linux but I just can't devote enough time... yet.
  13. If you mean something beyond cleanup, I use Auslogics Disk Defrag, Revo Cleaner. Security: ESET Smart Security, HOSTS Files, SpywareBlaster.

GUI matters, and I'm just used to RAR. I'll get a job in say, 4 years. I shall definitely pay for everything I have ever 'stolen' then. I don't exactly feel too proud using dad's money for software. Getting too off-topic methinks.

I don't want to talk about piracy here at the risk of breaking rules but here is how it goes. I have paid for my OS, all my softwares are freewares/open-source except for WinRAR where there doesn't exist a decent alternative. I am 17 right now, as soon as I start earning I will pay them for sure. I don't want to think about how much music I have s.... *shakes head*
  16. I'd like that. Something that would DISPLAY the duplicate files [hiding system files) Show all your files in different categories like |Videos|Music|Compressed|Other| Display them according to size, last date of use, etc.
  17. Okay, looking at the existing products... CCleaner = cleans. Recuva = recovers. Defraggler = defrags. Speccy = specs. [mystery 1] = ? [mystery 2] = ? Options: A tool mainly for optimization with error checking, backup, scheduling tool (does something like that even exist?), an advanced uninstalling tool, etc. etc.

I didn't say I paid, but lets not get into all that.

Mine is... paid. This has a lot of features, but I don't need all that honestly, not on an archiving tool at least.

Sounds solid but I don't think I'd want to move from WinRAR!
  21. I read this somewhere but I don't know how true it is... More the cores, clocked at lower speeds per core = less power usage.
  22. I used the search option and got nothing so here it is. Have all of you tried out the "Everything Search Engine."? Homepage: http://www.voidtools.com/ Been using it for a while now, much better than the default Windows Search. It's amazingly fast at what it does. --- Many of you must have heard of TeraCopy, if you haven't... Homepage: http://www.codesector.com/teracopy.php Check the link, it explains everything --- Dropbox has been awesome. Sync multiple systems instantaneously.
