  1. That nice. I think its perfect, don't think we need more members...
  2. Its true; http://outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthrea...2855#post112855 "Outpost Free was released before Windows XP and has not been updated for it - there is therefore a possibility that it will cause problems (including blue screen crashes) with Windows XP, especially with Service Pack 2 (disabling SP2's Data Execution Protection may help in some cases)."
  3. Fraid so, Outpost (Free) wasn't even tested on XP, and its quite unstable.
  4. Lol, you really hate that don't you Tarun!?
  5. LISTEN TO ME!!: regedit: Run - msconfig - type regedit - O.K Scan for issues - and for each thing that comes up navigate to it with regedit (you can see where to go under "Registry Key" next to each issues CCleaner finds), right-click the key you find, go to Permissions, click add, type Administrators and make sure you have full control (tick each think next to it under allow), then right-click and hit delete, should do the job....
  6. I wonder if anyone here recieves the full versions in advance?
  7. Oh. Anyways, I've got what I want; ZAP and Etrust.
  8. Crikey, then I'll backup onto DVD, when I get the time....
  9. How big is the backup then? If its a lot f fuss, I might leave it, just do an erunt backup or something (I don't fiddle with Windows files much), I'll se ehow it goes, yeah?
  10. if it comes with etrust its worth getting, isn't it?
  11. Cripes, sounds like a lot of work just for a backup! Might, backup just to harddisk, it won't alter anything, will it, and is it a large backup?
  12. If I do that, and if I ever needed to, how would I restore it?
  13. I'll see how it goes....! Though I amusing the latest version, which is meant to be veyr buggy, but has been fine so far, at least this one has actually been tested on XP, unlike Outpost.....
  14. Even though you weren't referring to me (were you?), I'm not here t argue. All I know is, it installed fine, and everything can access the internet perfectly. Sorry to hear it didn't work for you.
  15. I am using ZA now, and it works fine. I have heard many other people say that it is screwy, but its fine with me, have it in 15 day trial mode of Pro version, its brilliant, might buy it...
  16. Hmm, Kerio looks like it costs money, I'll give ZA another go...
  17. Right, I read that report about outpost Free (my previous firewall) never being tested on XP. That kinda shocked me, and it actually caused some problems, so I've got rid of it. I currently have just XP firewall running, which a lot of people I have seen use, does anyone recommend a decent FREE one, or is it not needed? I don't want Sygate as its been discontinued, nor any version of ZoneAlarm as an old version screwed up my PC once, nor of course Outpost Free. I just want a firewall (if I need one) thats completely safe to use, and very good...
  18. I assume I do it without the " marks, so just that; %SystemRoot%\system32\ntbackup.exe If I do that, and if I ever needed to, how would I restore it?
  19. Did the re-plug thingy, nothing happened, taking it into a workshop...
  20. I dunno. It seems like coincidence I do this; http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=3561 and this problem seems (the problem may have been there before I fixed this problem) to arise. I'll re-plug soon, but I gotta do ALL my drives.
  21. Mine was fine... Though I got it from this location; http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpostfree/index.php
  22. Went to the Boot Menu, (same as BIOS? -there were only two things to select from, and that one seemed like the right one), all my drives were there and displayed correctly, the only thing I've got left is to unplug and replug the drive I think.
  23. Outpost FREE is far better; http://www.majorgeeks.com/download1056.html
