Alas, I would love to use this, but I cannot survive at uni with a PDF viewer without a search function. Thanks, I will look into them. What about my other software? I can't find free alternatives to the anti-virus or anti-spyware nor the firewall. Is there a free alternative to CCleaner? Is there a free alternative to Defraggler? Is there a free alternative to Recuva? I'm still using WLM with A-Patch as it allows me to have MSN contacts and YIM contacts both form my MSN address. I haven't found a free alternative that can do that yet. WMP 11 I use simply because it come with Windows. MS Office I use simply because IMO its better than OpenOffice, though I've listed OpenOffice as well. Vista Codecs I use because VLC on its own does not play embeded Quicktime videos in FF. Is there a free alternative to this? Are there any free alternatives to Dial-a-fix, HijackThis, Unlocker, Dizzy?

I downloaded the latest version (v1.00.031) today. PROS: As I now use Vista, its great to have a freeware Defragger than now actually has a UI, and can analyze. Speaking of which, the UI is great. I haven't had any bug freezes either, which is great, especially for a Beta. Even though its a feature I won't ever use, its cool that you have the option to select fragmented files. Also, I like the way you can see what files are fragmented. CONS: *Problem that needs fixing*: The actual defragmenter isn't great. Well, I defragmented my D drive, great. However, my C drive which all my programs are installed on, isn't so great, considering how, a list keeps re-appearing after having defragmented, which is a whopping 5.5 GB pf fragmented files. If this is fixed, I wouldn't have any major criticisms,but as this stands, it isn't great. Also, for XP users, I can't see any major reason why they should use this, simply as it doesn't really offer anything new, apart from selecting individual files. If the actual quality of defragmentation was increased so that it was better than Window's own, then that would be a good reaosn as to why XP users should use it. Anyways, thats my two cents.

Exactly. It isn't error-proof, which is why I don't want to use it. They didn't specify what the exact damage was, but badly messed with the registry. It may well be the safest, but it still has the potential (as does TuneUp and RegCompact) to cause problems.

Well I disagree with you, it is nothing like that. but mae your own assumptions if you want, but they are false.

They didn't want to sell me anything else at all. They tested it themselves on lots of PC's, and messing with the registry which is a fragile thing is not needed, and CCleaner and RegCompact are known to cause damage (registry wise). And what with some of the negatives I've heard people have with the Cleaner in CCleaner I'm not prepared to use it anymore.

Maybe with Ewido. CCleaner and RegCompact are known to cause a lot of damage in the registry, and I can just use Disk Cleanup and manually delete a bunch of stuff myself.

Outpost Pro Firewall started causing me some major problems, made the CPU shoot up to 100%, definitely a problem, happily back with ZAP. Also, made some big changes with the software I use. Don't have CCleaner/RegCompact/TuneUp Utilities on my system, in fear of ruining my registry, heard too many bad stories form my local PC repair shop who have tested them, and also don't have Ewido, as ZAP comes with a decent Anti-Spyware, and I don't want another service on my system.

I personally use uTorrent; http://www.utorrent.com - no installation, already there when downloaded, just an exe file, perfect in my opinion.

Version 4 looks good, hope it stays as good as it is now.
