  1. Hmm, what Operating System do they have? Its unusual, but I'm sure it can happen, I'm not an expert in this, someone else may know the answer.. Could be one of the wires burnt out....?
  2. Has to be eTrust. No one should use F-Secure: http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=3221

  4. Apparently it has been discontinued, are there better FREE firewalls out there (excluding Zonealarm (buggy)/Kiero (going to be discontinued). Are these any good: SoftPerfect Personal Firewall - http://www.softperfect.com/products/firewall/ Jetico Personal Firewall - http://www.jetico.com/index.htm#/jpfirewall.htm Turan says that Outpost Free is good, but on the official site its a trial, nothing more than a trial, I need freeware... Unless, is it a trial version which then slips into Free version after x amount of days? Everywhere I look for google for it says its just version 1, and that isn't from the official sites. Plus they don't update it, which means its no better than mine? I am only interested in spyware/adware/virus free programs. Thanks.
  5. Yeah, I just wanted to make sure. May I ask, will you be getting it?
  6. Do servies packs overwrite all your files and settings then, will SP3 cost money?
  7. Don't mean to sound dumb, but I'm going to anyway, but is it a big thing putting another service pack on your PC? Does it get rid of files or settings, and also, does it cost money, or will you be able to download it off them (considering it is an update of sorts)? Any thoughts?
  8. I actually got round to deleting ALL the backweb and f-secure reg keys, I changed the Permissions to Administrator with Full Control and Read. However, the problem is still there. Not to worry though, I'll live.
  9. As far as I know, SP3 is going to be released? I agree with you as well, that would be a very smart idea, and if it updates, ohh and a real-time scanner! That, would be excellent. 10. Hmm, different opinions here, I'm not sure.. Well, maybe in the future, but to be honest I am always changing around where I put my files (and as are other people on this PC), so maybe its not worth it.
  11. Did what you said, still has the same problem, and I don't have a proxy. That looks like the only way out, but I'm not bothered enough to reinstall windows. I'm O.K, its just a pain in the ass. And, yes, I'll definitely keep away from it, and I hope everyone else does to, do NOT get F-Secure! I might look around aand see if I can get rid of BackWeb though, I reckon they can cause me problems....
  12. Excellent, got all I want now. They have a full database download, and then ones for over the last 2-3 days. So I'll update every other day.
  13. New set of tools that I use: Antivirus: eTrust EZ Antivirus - http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/ On-Demand Anti-Spyware: Spybot - Search & Destroy - http://www.spybot.info Ad-Aware SE Personal - http://www.lavasoft.com/support/download Microsoft AntiSpyware - http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/s...re/default.mspx CWShredder - http://www.trendmicro.com/cwshredder/ Real-time Anti-Spyware: Arovax Shield - http://www.arovaxshield.com/ Registry Cleaners/Tuners: Registry First Aid - http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/reg1aid/ RegSeeker - http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm Disk Cleaners: CCleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com Disk Cleanup (I use this as it can compress old files) - built into Windows I seriously want ewido (http://www.ewido.com) as well, then I would be complete, but due to the problem here (http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=3221) I can't, unless they have manual updates?
  14. The virus scan seemed pretty fast, I was clean, the cleanup and defrag don't seem that important.
  15. According to spbot.info the best are "LeechGet, followed by Download Express. Both are easy to very easy to use, have a nice looking (but not too crowded) user interface, are spyware-clean and free for personal use." Is this so? And do download managers really increase downloading speeds? Will them make downloads from P2P applications run faster? I am only interested in spyware/adware/virus free programs. All answers appreciated.
  16. Right, some strange things... Spybot was able to update itself, and when I scanned it said no spyware was found... I then used reg seeker to look for entries, it found many backweb entries, and many f-secure entries, so I "deleted" them. I did another scan just in case and they all popped up again. I went into safe mode, did what i just did, and still the same entries popped up again. I tehn manually tried to delete the keys, and they all sad there was an "error deleteing the key"... I have also noticed that for the programs that do not update, they do not even reach my firewall, indeed here is a log of the antivirus update: 20/11/2005 10:45:08.000 - ################################## 20/11/2005 10:45:08.015 - # Starting Log # 20/11/2005 10:45:08.015 - ################################## 20/11/2005 10:45:08.031 - 20/11/2005 10:45:08.156 - Internet::open() Using preconfig 20/11/2005 10:45:08.250 - Internet::connectHttpServer() http://downloads.My-eTrust.com/?lang=en-US 20/11/2005 10:45:08.265 - Internet::openHttpServer() POST Antivirus/GetSignature/autodownload.pl 20/11/2005 10:45:08.796 - Error Code: 12029 - 12029 : A connection with the server could not be established 20/11/2005 10:45:08.812 - Could not contact web server 20/11/2005 10:45:09.890 - Dialing 20/11/2005 10:45:09.890 - Dialling 20/11/2005 10:45:09.906 - Connected 20/11/2005 10:45:09.906 - Internet::open() Using preconfig 20/11/2005 10:45:09.906 - Internet::connectHttpServer() http://downloads.My-eTrust.com/?lang=en-US 20/11/2005 10:45:09.921 - Internet::openHttpServer() POST Antivirus/GetSignature/autodownload.pl 20/11/2005 10:45:09.937 - Error Code: 12029 - 12029 : A connection with the server could not be established 20/11/2005 10:45:09.937 - Could not contact web server 20/11/2005 10:45:10.546 - Update could not contact the web server. 17. I do not have logitech, but I have a helluva lot of programs... I'll backup what I delete via Spybot, reboot, and see if there is a problem.
  18. What Vanguard said is the way to proper change it (I believe somewhere in the boot menu of when your PC is loading up you can change what is prmary and what is secondary). Otherwise try different pin changes, but I'm not a master at these things, so please don't totally trust my judgement.
  19. I will run DJ Lizards and check it all, and run that. If that does not fix the problem I will get spybot, regseek all backweb, and then manually delete all of the rest of backweb. Thanks. UPDATE: Dial A Fix did not sought out the problem unfortuantly, and you are right about F-secure using Backweb, I remember seeing it in there terms and conditions, and when I first used spybot ages ago when it wiped out backweb my antivirus went mad, so I'll take your advice and hope no other programs on my PC use backweb!
  20. My PC since I uninstalled my old internet security suite (f-secure bundled with my internet connection), screwed up me updating my PC in most ways. This means any new program I put on my PC, or programs that I had not updated before, will not update, they all come through with the similar error that they could connect me to their server. Yet programs that I update regurely before, update fine now. I posted up a hijackthis log on CCleaner forums when the problem started happening, I was clean. I have no visible proxy, do you have any ideas? Many Thanks, Ultimate Predator P.S I was recommended to get Dial-A-Fix which I have, but what the hell do I click on to hopefully fix this problem?
  21. Amnd if thats a problem, delete it manually, and if you are good with the registry look for its keys there and delete them. Also untick all the services if it is running using msconfig.
  22. Double check that when you are visiting the page that yiour text size is at medium; View - Text Size - Medium. Also, use www.ewido.com anti-spyware, download, update, and run that. Also scan your PC for viruses, use this program, and update it, then scan http://www.my-etrust.com/SubscriptCenter/M...gistration.aspx
  23. I shall run that through my PC pretty soon.
  24. Link owrks fine for me, cool to hear its in a beta stage now.
