AVG Free won't connect to the internet for updates, help please? I know it isn't Windows Firewall blocking it.

ZoneAlarm rebooted my pc as soon as it tried to run, believe it or not. Currently am needing help. Avast causes all my internet pages not to be displayed (Page Not Displayed), and is there a current FREE (not a trial) AVG Anti-Virus? Only the one I tried was 2004 version and would not connect to the internet for updates, and I can't find a free one from the site, please post the official site up with download for FREE Anti-virus. If that doesn't work, please suggest another trusted completely FREE anti-virus. Fire-wall wise I'm relying on Microsoft Windows firewall untill I get some Antivirus set-up, so everyone please help.

Well, ZoneAlarm is VERY bugy, I recommend no one uses it. AVG didn't like my pc, so I'm getting vast, firewall wise I still haven't found what I'm looking for, it has to match these criteria: FREE (No trials, completely FREE). Little Resources Updates Galore

Right, my built in anti-vrirus/firewall bundle with my internet security has busted, and the helpdesk recommend I find something else, as the product isn't great for Windows XP. So, I plan to get Avast AntiVirus Home Edition, thats been brilliant to me in the past before I got this, so I'm pleased with that (unless someone can say that there is a better FREE antivirus out there). More importantly, firewalls. The guy who I phoned up just reckons that Windows Firewall is good enough, and I must admit, its been fine before I got this firewall, but I read that it doesn't block outgoing conections... So what FREE firewall should I get, that doesn't us up a lot of system resources, easy to use, and has updates? That is, considering that Windows Firewall is not good enough. Many Thanks.

I tested it under ADSL, because it says USB ADSL PPP under my Network Connections, so I assume thats the right one to run under? It appears to give an accurate result, a little bit slower than what we subscribed for, but it changes....

Well, I'd still be interested in a site, but I found out from another source: "2.2Mb/s was probably the speed the PC was connected to the USB modem, and not actual line speed." Soo, annoying, wished it didn't display thatthe speed is 22 Mbps, but no worries.

Basically, I want to know if there is a trusted site out there that can tell you your overall Internet speed, i.e 512, 2 mbp, e.c.t. The reason why is that mine says it is 2.2 Mbps, but I don't think it is as I know somebody with that speed and their is faster. Plus, our internet connection was bought under 512 kbps, though my friend says that phone lines in my area are being replaced and internet speeds are becoming faster because of this. So, please, a site that tells you those result would be great.
