daggerXtreme
Hi everyone! I have some VOB files copied from a DVD that I bought. I want to convert it to mpg (or avi) so I can put it on my portable media player. Does anyone know of a free converter that can do it?

chen2
My friend recommended Flash DVD Ripper. It is a piece of easy-to-use DVD ripper software for ripping DVD VOB to MPEG, DVD to AVI, DVD to VCD, DVD to SVCD video formats on-the-fly. I have used it for a long time. It is very useful for me. But it is not free.
David8023
If you still not do that conversion, you can try WinAVI. That can do so many video conversion, you can try trial version first.
Moderators Andavari Posted February 1, 2007 Moderators Share Posted February 1, 2007 Super converter should be able to do it: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html I also vote on using SUPER since it's completely freeware, although video conversion is pathetically slow if using a good amount of compression. BrownSugar
Super is a good program, but I suggest monitoring the install with Total Uninstall or Zsoft's Uninstaller. It's been known to thrown some dll files in your system32 directory. Mediacoder is constantly being updated and has a better forum: http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/ Auto GK can probably do it: http://www.autogk.me.uk/ You might also want to search Videohelp.com, as Virtualdubmod or one of the other Virtualdub configurations might be useful. http://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearch=...h+or+List+tools I can't stress the use of using a good uninstaller program enough. Every audio/video program you load is going to load codecs, and quite often they cause a conflict with what you already have loaded. Use a program like Gspot to see what you already have (and what codecs a file needs in order to playable).
candy
candy ,How can I get the subtitle of the DVD which I want in the final output file? Before you start ripping, please check the "Subtitle" box, which can be found on the top. It will show all the subtitles that your DVD has. You can select one of them you like for ripping. Good luck!
