If you still not do that conversion,you can try WinAVI. That can do so many video conversion,you can try trial version first.

You can try to use WinAVI,and the best version is v7.7.

I know a software maybe you can try.It's WinAVI.It can convert avi to dvd in very fast speed.After you try,you will know.Also you'd better try the trial version first to see if it really can help you. And last,make sure you have install right codec(divx/xvid). Good luck
