Watch the Birdie
Each time I run CCleaner, it says it's removed the same number of files (2084) from the recycle bin? Yet the bin is empty? Any ideas?
Moderators nukecad Posted March 30, 2022 Moderators Share Posted March 30, 2022 Yes, you have a corrupted recycle bin - Don't worry it often happens and is easy to fix, see this: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/60979-empty-recycle-bin-skipped-files/#comment-331053 Â *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Watch the Birdie
Um.... I managed to get the cmd up, but no option to select "Run as administrator" Entering rd /s/q C:\$Rercycle.bin didn't work either?

Moderators Nergal Posted March 30, 2022 Moderators Share Posted March 30, 2022 Right click the cmd shortcut and choose run as admin, the command you're using requires admin uac  ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. I’ll try again! thank you What operating system are you using? If it is Win 10, press the start button once and immediately type cmd (no need to put the letters in a box or anything, just press start and type) This in my screenshot should come up automagically   Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
Moderators nukecad Posted March 31, 2022 Moderators Share Posted March 31, 2022 Also copy/type the command carefully - In your post above you have misstyped it as "C:\$Rercycle.bin" and you have not put a space between "/s" and the "/q" Either of those errors would cause the command to fail. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Watch the Birdie
Thank you for your assistance, but I'm not having any joy? Initially, it wouldn't allow me, (or follow the instruction to Run as...), where I got the message, access denied? Eventually, I got it right Obviously, I wasn't leaving a gap once I did get to Run as... But, even then I was getting 'file not known' etc??? I tried leaving a gap before rd With out a gap before C Lots of different combinations??? Losing the will now lol
Moderators hazelnut Posted March 31, 2022 Moderators Share Posted March 31, 2022 @Watch the Birdie copy and paste this in the cmd prompt (run as admin) then press Enter key on your keyboard rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin By the way are you running as an administrator on the machine? Also are your Program Files, Pictures and Downloads etc. all on your C drive?  Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
