Moderators Andavari Posted August 24, 2020 Moderators Share Posted August 24, 2020 (edited) I remember a friend getting Win95 and inviting me over to play I believe the game was MechWarrior at the time. I don't miss the Win9x era VxD bugs, and remember on Win98 making a VxD bug fix script that would re-copy the good/working and not corrupted VxD files back into the OS - made having to reinstall the Win98 OS fresh every few months (sometimes every 6 months) for that specific error a thing of the past. Moderators nukecad Posted August 24, 2020 Moderators Share Posted August 24, 2020 I still have a box running 98SE, and still use it a couple of times a year. I keep it because I have the full version of AutoCAD 2000i on it. - You can't buy Autocad outright anymore and a monthly (£234) or yearly (£1,890) subscription costs way too much for occasional use. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? The only reason I still have an old Dell that runs Win98 (should've bought the 98SE upgrade disc back then) is to play the Descent games that never worked in later versions of Windows. Moderators nukecad Posted August 29, 2020 Moderators Share Posted August 29, 2020 I've got an old 'Lemmings' CD for Win95 - I tried it for a laugh and it still runs perfectly on Win10. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Moderators Andavari Posted August 29, 2020 Moderators Share Posted August 29, 2020 Original retail Descent games on CD don't work on Win10, I tried last month and got the failure I was expecting.
trium
i think the 64 bit systems are a problem for. an emulator can help but the original-os with the hardware from the time is the best.
