Just an FYI that CCleaner 5.70 has added new settings at Options | Privacy | Offers  that are not mentioned in the change log at https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/version-history.  Note that the option to "See possible upgrades and offers for our other products by sharing app-usage with us" is enabled by default.

Kudos to bjm_ for alerting  other CCleaner users about this new Privacy setting <here> in the Norton Tech Outpost.

That is in the process of being added to an errata note on the release notes, as we only spotted it ourselves after launch.  🤦‍♂️

These new settings weren't supposed to ship until a later version and got caught up in this build release - they are still in "draft mode" and not hooked up to anything at the back end yet.  Absolutely not intended to be included without explanation - quite the contrary, the plan was to make a big headline noise about this when finally released. They slipped out early and incomplete in our haste to fix the Firefox issue.

Once active, they will be part of a mechanism to allow free users greater control over their privacy to opt-out of seeing certain offers in the same manner that paying users currently enjoy - expanding privacy settings and certainly not curtailing them in any way.

Thou doth protesteth too much.  All settings which harvest data should off by default.  Very sneaky having them on from installation. There should be a prominent prompt as soon as installation starts, giving the option to opt in, if you so desire, or decline.

Even turning these off, you still get the pop up notification to extend your licence to a 2 year one with tech support. most that use the pro version i dare say will never use he support, hows about an offer for a cheaper 2 year deal with no tech support ?
nope didn't think so

If you read the options being discussed here they clearly say they are options for offers/upgrades to  'our other products' and '3rd-party products'.

They are not options for CCleaner itself, and certainly not about licensing.

Plus as Dave CCleaner pointed out above they are not even supposed to be there yet, they are there by mistake and at the moment do nothing if/when selected.

According to the change log at https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/version-history for v5.71.7971 (released today, 14-Sep-2020), the privacy settings that were incorrectly displayed (but inactive) in the previous v5.70 are now active and "All users can now opt out of offers for other products".
