Moderators nukecad Posted February 26, 2020 Moderators Share Posted February 26, 2020 Surplus information; once you have Edge Chromium then MS will update it automatcally so why look to a 3rd party? It's not been pushed out on Windows Update yet, but was fully RTM on 15th January and is included in new Windows installations since then. If you want it now then you can download it here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge?form=MA13DE&OCID=MA13DE *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Keep getting logged out of websites? Aelson
You are right. Right now Edge doesn't notify for the new update, but it will soon, like Chrome. So for now I do keep track of new updates via that Telegram Channeel.

Very few members here would install Telegram just to get info an Edge update, or look in its preview channel. Moderators hazelnut Posted March 3, 2020 Moderators Share Posted March 3, 2020 Looks like it's been released on Major Geeks too before announcing it to the users on our forum. Not good for Piriform to treat forum users like that. https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/ccleaner_slim.html Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
siliconman01
Tried the download from MajorGeeks on my test machine of CCleaner V5.64. Total bust... CCleaner opens, but then locks up and has to be manually "End Task". I don't recommend any download site other than the official CCleaner site. Aelson
The one I downloaded from SoftPedia, was ok. I downloaded its "Standard (bundles Avast)" version. Alternatively you may download it from TechSpot.com https://www.techspot.com/downloads/132-ccleaner.html Both sites are reputable sites.

I would hardly call offering a software download before it has been officially released reputable behaviour. As it isn't officially released yet then who knows what may be in those unofficial downloads? *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Keep getting logged out of websites? Guest Stephen CCleaner
The versions on these 3rd-party sites are likely taken from download links that went live earlier than expected, (although I cannot confirm for sure they are legitimate versions, nor will I spend time verifying them). As is the case for any software, the most secure course of action is always to source your downloads direct from the creators. For CCleaner, that means CCleaner.com. Version 5.64 (and filehashes) will be released in a few hours. There will be a separate build for Windows XP and Vista users. Further details on this when we announce the new version later today. But Changelog page is not updated yet. https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/version-history As a general observation, we would strongly advise against installing unreleased software, especially from anything other than the official manufacturer. Even if the source seems reputable there is no guarantee that they have performed all necessary due diligence in their rush to publish the "news". Note that simply eyeballing that the binaries seem to be hosted on the official manufacturer's server does not qualify as "due diligence" - if the software has not been officially released then there may still be last-minute changes and fixes still to come, or some back-end components that may not have been switched on yet. I would have hoped that Softpedia would know better than to do something like this - but apparently not. Aelson
@nukecad You are right. @Dave CCleaner Thanks a lot for the info. I agree with you. I will go ahead and uninstall the version I downloaded from SoftPedia, and do a reboot, and install the one from CCleaner's website once it is released. markweatherill
Hello, just to point out that it looks really poor when I go to the CCleaner web page to download the latest version, and it pops up this 'helpful' thing that says 'Click here to open!!!!' pointing to the bottom left of the screen, and then my browser puts up a download dialog box with the actual download... Is this something to do with Edge Chromium?
Moderators nukecad Posted May 4, 2020 Moderators Share Posted May 4, 2020 Nope, it's not just Edge Chrome. It doesn't always happen but I'll sometimes see the same 'Click here' pop-up in Firefox, but with FFx it's in the top right pointing up. I believe it only pops-up if your browser is being slow to start the automatic download and show you the dialogue box, - which is what you describe with your dialogue appearing shortly afterwards. If your browser starts the download quickly enough the 'Click here' doesn't show. (Maybe they could give it a few more seconds before it shows? But some people do get impatient if nothing seems to be happening). Because it moves up and down I've called it the bouncing arrow - I just ignore it. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Keep getting logged out of websites? Moderators hazelnut Posted May 4, 2020 Moderators Share Posted May 4, 2020 It happens to me everytime and it's when the download dialogue appears. For me it's not 'cause it's slow to start. I would never install any software while in a browser session anyway.
