Moderators hazelnut Posted March 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 30, 2016 Does it make any difference if you open Ccleaner..select options..selct advanced and then untick the option which says ''only delete files in windows temp older than 24 hours' ? Then try a clean. Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com

len22
Hi, Update, just noticed that ALL the files remaining are Microsoft Edge related...As I say I can delete them manually, but would take ages to do, as there are so many of them.. Moderators hazelnut Posted March 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 30, 2016 Have you tried deleting them from within Edge? Right hand side top of Edge page, three lines (hamburger) near star, then click on the clock like symbol. Moderators Nergal Posted April 9, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 9, 2016 Where's the issue, Edge like all other non-internet-explorer browsers must be fully exited (sometimes including a dllhost.exe) before cleaning. This also includes many Windows UI apps (Such as Windows Mail) and any applications that use Windows' inbuilt html renderer (such as Outlook). It's not the fault of ccleaner ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Moderators Andavari Posted April 12, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 12, 2016 Who knows. I know 5.16 (CCleaner portable version) on the Win10 laptop I used it on would only sometimes clean Edge, i.e.; after the computer had been on for several minutes. CCleaner definitely won't clean Edge soon after a Windows startup/restart while all that background junk Windows is downloading is resident. Moderators Nergal Posted April 12, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 12, 2016 And my 5.16 seems perfect cleaning when I do what I said, I've never even had to kill dllhost, but others have reported it. It only works, when I manual clean in ccleaner as opposed to monitor, and I do use edge as my main browser. Hi, OK I have tried your theory, I cleaned my computer in CC version 5.13 64bit nothing left there... Uninstalled and reinstalled V5.16 I used the internet a lot with edge, I used my outlook mail and BT mail. Facebook and Flickr... I then tried CCleaner and yes...all files still there....Can you please try something for me When you analize all the files come up, and you then press Run cleaner..All files will go..Can you then repeat, analize are your files still there..??? Because mine are and I can right click on them and open containing file and delete from there...Not sure if it's my HP pavilion 23 it does not like...So unistalling CC version 5.16 64bit and reinstalling V5.13 64bit which I know works... Anyone from CCleaner got any comments??? Thx Len
Firewalker
started a ne thread about this! been using CC for years and have purchased the program, using 5.16 pro. this is a problem that several others are having, and not getting any answers that I can find. What's up with this.
Moderators Nergal Posted April 18, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 18, 2016 How many ways do I have to say the answer, in this particular thread, before you realize an answer is given. So far proof has been that this is an issue within Edge and not ccleaner. If anybody has proof to disabuse me of the belief that your edge is not at fault, feel free. Moderators mta Posted April 19, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 19, 2016 no member will know for sure, we are all just 'users' like you. ideally you want a Dev Team member to chime in, but that's rare to say the least. my spin on it, by some fluke, cc v5.13 and whatever version of Edge was at at that time, happily liked each other. who knows, instead of reverting CC to work with the current Edge, maybe CC v516 will work with that old Edge version. since release, Edge has been a work-in-progress and CC, at each release, has been playing catch-up. currently they are out of sync (so to speak) obviously but hopefully the next version of CC (or Edge!) could fix that. Hi, Thx for the input... My V5.13 has worked all the time with edge, its just 5.16 that's the problem.. As for Dev team chiming in,,, they should have one permanently on this site to help out..I think that is a disgrace that there is no one..... As for Dev team chiming in,,, they should have one permanently on this site to help out..I think that is a disgrace that there is no one..... Len Hi Len, I registered here just to try and help you out. Like yourself, I too have had this problem and have found two possible solutions. I hope this works for you too. If you have the Pro version, try this: Open CCleaner, then go to Options ---> Monitoring and untick "Enable browser monitoring". It should now work. Failing that, or for those who don't have the pro version, there is a less than ideal way but it works nonetheless...... Close dllhost.exe prior to cleaning. Two ways of doing this: Open task manager on your pc/laptop, go to the 'details' tab, reorganise by name and find and delete all instances of dllhost. Then run CCleaner immediately as the dllhost has a tendency to return after a short time. Or for those who understand bat/batch files, try to use a bat file like this: @echo off taskkill /f /im dllhost.exe start "" "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" /AUTO There, hope that solves the problem for you. It worked for me. edit: additionally, you could try this - In your PC/laptop settings go to Privacy and then scroll down to Background Apps and turn Microsoft Edge off. This will stop it from running in the background. To confirm you may have to reboot.
