Winapp2.ini
8.1.. product version is 6.3 I'd imagine. Should've stuck with Blue. winapp2.ini additions thread winapp2.ini github
Moderators rridgely Posted May 14, 2013 Moderators Share Posted May 14, 2013 This update is still going to annoy people. They are bringing back the start button but not the start menu. No one on a desktop/non touch laptop wants this start screen. I had to pay for start 8 just to avoid it. Start 8 actually makes windows 8 a great OS. Its fast, stable, and works great. I don't even see any of the metro stuff anymore as it also hides all the hot corners and other junk.
Winapp2.ini
I like the start screen, personally, but perhaps that's because I'm not married to the start menu. I run most of my programs from the run command or the taskbar. winapp2.ini additions thread winapp2.ini github
Moderators Andavari Posted May 15, 2013 Moderators Share Posted May 15, 2013 I'm completely avoiding Windows 8.x and will, and depending upon what they release after it "Win9", etc., will help me make up my mind if I jump ship over to a Linux compile. Alan_B
It is 8.1 because they are still holding out on the Start Menu. They are reserving Windows Blue for when they give up and concede to public demand
eL_PuSHeR
I still don't see any reason for me to jump into the Win8 bandwagon. I know it's somewhat more optimized than Seven, but I do not like its awkward interface.
Coffee4Joe
when I first started using 8 I admit I was a nay-sayer of the start screen, mostly because of the lack of a physical button to get there like the beta/PR had. And I was one of those users that never pinned anything to the taskbar or had desktop Icons. Ii'm hoping 8.1 allows for more start screen customization like adjusting colum and rows without a reg tweaking
