Corona
That's an easy way to get Hazelnuts' attention. A friend of mine has a Mac and she wants to know where she can safely find and download a (free if possible) good AV. Thanks.
Moderators hazelnut Posted April 26, 2012 Moderators Share Posted April 26, 2012 Bear in mind I don't have a mac to test them on http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-antivirus-for-mac-home-edition.aspx'>http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-antivirus-for-mac-home-edition.aspx (free) http://www.avira.com/en/avira-free-mac-security (free) http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-antivirus-for-mac-home-edition.aspx (paid) http://download.drweb.com/mac/?lng=en (paid) Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com

Moderators Nergal Posted April 26, 2012 Moderators Share Posted April 26, 2012 Why is this thread called hazelnut exactly :-? Whilst it is, yes, a good way to get her attention, I don't believe it's a spectacular way to get you question answered I would suggest editing the first post (in the full editor) and changing the name of it to something along the lines of, "Mac Antivirus Software, what would you suggest" Thus achieving the goal of, not having Hazelnut look as she would have anyway, but finding help for your friend's query. That said, it's up to you, Also I found http://forums.macrum...13&postcount=52 (see #9) http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/15850/clamxav http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1358330 http://guides.macrumors.com/Mac_Virus/Malware_FAQ (see if you had titled it Nergal ) ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. nodles
I would suggest editing the first post (in the full editor) and changing the name of it to something along the lines of, /OT This is something you've told me before, but I'm not sure if this is possible. Probably for mods only..?
Corona
Hazelnut changed the thread title. I think Nodles is right. I believe only Mods have permission to change thread titles. (It kinda makes sense, I've noticed that on many boards.) And thanks for all your replies and links everyone. ---- My friend had downloaded Sophos for Mac the other day. She did a scan and after over 24 hours went by it was still scanning. Somehow she was able to 'force' it off. She still couldn't uninstall it. This is her reply today... Just talked to Apple and they run a debug on my computer every day so I don't need antivirus. He said to run CCleaner to get the antivirus programs off my computer. Does a Mac version of CCleaner even exist?
