Tasgandy
Folks I thought the following info/list would be of assistance to many Forum members and visitors. It should be noted that Piriform Software Applications, Defraggler, Recuva & CCleaner are included in this list. Moderators Nergal Posted December 17, 2010 Moderators Share Posted December 17, 2010 don't we have this topic (though this list is nice) http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=17921 ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. So sorry to all if this has been duplicated. Always With Kind RegardsTasgandy"one is never too old to listen & learn"
Aethec
Some things on that list are not well-known...Ashampoo Firewall? Does it protect you while you're showering? Piriform French translator
Moderators Andavari Posted December 18, 2010 Moderators Share Posted December 18, 2010 Ashampoo Firewall has been previously reviewed before as "not good." Albeit when I last tried it which was probably two or so years ago, it did pass the GRC ShieldsUp tests otherwise I wouldn't have used it for one week. No this is a very viable topic and I have no problem at all with it being here (and it's a mighty fine list) ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Moderators rridgely Posted December 21, 2010 Moderators Share Posted December 21, 2010 There are some clunkers on that list but overall its not too bad. Is anyone really using Zone Alarm or anything by comodo/iobit anymore? There are a few programs that I use everyday that aren't on this list too. Microsoft live programs(mail, movie maker, ect.) along with Zune and Ashampoo burner. These programs are much better than the ones they are recommending. (to me anyway. )
Moderators Andavari Posted December 21, 2010 Moderators Share Posted December 21, 2010 That list would be better if they would clearly label commercial software as a trial, case in point bitRipper which Softpedia lists as shareware.

Well now Andavari this is an example of "what the ???" and you are correct, Softpedia lists bitRipper 1.31 as shareware @ $29.95 HOWEVER Softonic lists bitRipper 1.31 as FREE.............go figure....see attached.
