Disk4mat
Are you cleaning while the browser is open? Also have you tried unchecking index.dat under Internet Explorer?
bimbobo
Are you cleaning while the browser is open? Also have you tried unchecking index.dat under Internet Explorer? Thanks.. browser is closed. with or without check in .dat is the same.. Now I run "compatibility" as Win XP SP2 and it works as it should.. I think it's a bug.. unclebic
I would try the "Window Size/Location Cache" under Advanced to see it they come back. Good Luck! bimbobo
...it started again tonight. I have 2 PCs same issue. I did not change anythimg, so I cannpt explain why it's random. I rebooted both PCs, and everything is fine. I run CC and it's bad again. Regards Win 7 and 8.1 64 bit
Disk4mat
Try not using the registry cleaner for a couple of days and see if the problem comes back. Maybe the best course of action is to try and isoate it to either the cleaner section or the registry. At that point we can narrow it down further. bimbobo
I tried that, it seems the issue is not the registry cleaning.. but explorer or else. regards Win 7 and 8.1 64 bit
bimbobo
Are you cleaning while the browser is open? Also have you tried unchecking index.dat under Internet Explorer? Again same issue is coming back.. It's not the registry delete, but "windows cleaning" It's very annoying Regards Win 7 and 8.1 64 bit
Moderators Nergal Posted December 4, 2009 Moderators Share Posted December 4, 2009 ok so here is what is occuring (and the same occurs for me ~22% that ieprivacy keeper cleans (which happens each time I close the last browser window) the Cache is becoming corrupt. I'm still testing out how exactly to stop this from occuring. Strangly this is something that used to occur with ie6 back in the day. however currently when it occurs I delete the actual index.dat it the cache folder I run the inbuilt IE history delete then I reboot the computer (logging off was NOT enough) and then I can download again. This may seem extreme however my first routine was reset ie and install all my freaking accelorators and search providers, so this is easier. Watching this thread and will come back as I learn more. ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. bimbobo
..I unticked "index.dat files" and since then it's not occurring anymore. I tried now about 10 times.. no issues. So please try to find out why this is happening iv "index.dat files" is ticked. PS: even without untick "index.dat files" rebooting has always solved the issue, until CCleaner runs again", log off not enough. But.. this is not a solution Regards Win 7 and 8.1 64 bit

Moderators Nergal Posted December 6, 2009 Moderators Share Posted December 6, 2009 if you have ie in protected mode (which it is by default) all dat files are kept in c:\windows\temp and get deleted even if index dat is unticked. I had to exclude this dat for a while til I figured that out ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.
