gator32
Hello, I'm New to the forum. I attempted researching the following questions from prior posts however: I use CCleaner many times a day. 1. is this a good practice? 2. recently, I have noticed after running CC my windows system restore points are gone. Has anyone else experienced this? 3. How effective is CC at immediately removing malware or spyware? Thank you very much
Moderators Augeas Posted January 8, 2009 Moderators Share Posted January 8, 2009 1) Probably best described as overkill. It depends how much detritus you generate during the day. I run CC when there's about 50 mb to go, which I've found is around two or three days with my usage. If you spend all day on youtube you may have different requirements. 2) I haven't noticed this and I don't think that CC does anything to sys restore points, some users wish it would. 3) Not at all, or at least not directly. CC cleans temp files, so if there's anything malingering there it will go, but CC doesn't specifically look for mal/spyware.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. My comments about the threads making no sense is the spam post is removed, then people will think either the whole thread or above post is the spam, it will get confusing to say the least and that's why Admins and Mods on forums in general (not just this one) don't want people to reply or make comments about spam.
