  7. yeah shame kaspersky is like $60...... good point u make,if you follow that topic you really dont need an AV like kaspersky that costs a bit.
  8. posted it in the wrong section mate
  9. yeah its pretty damn bad in ireland also.i was outside in my garden moving stuff into the garage, was standing beside a table tennis table we have, the things are pretty big and heavy, wind managed to blow it down, missing me by a few inches.gotta wonder about global warming and all that considering how intense the weather has been for a while, never remember the weather being this bad 5-10 years ago
  10. my brother will no doubt buy it,he has too much money and too little sense expensive it is indeed

    Keyboard

hey i just have a few questions concerning my mates keyboard on his laptop,so please forgive the newb Qs im about to ask.but just to tell u what happened first,my mate disabled some important startup program,so the windows screen pops up on startup but u just get a black screen after it if i remember correctly.it shud be an easy case of going to last known good config or safe mode and fixing start up program, but this is where the problem is. alas i cant do that because most of his F1-F12 keys are broken,is there any way to fix his keyboard?are there any other ways to start up in safe mode?i thought my keyboard from desktop wud plug into his laptop but it wudnt, can i get a usb keyboard that will slot into it ok?
  15. sounds good, gonna check it out edit : looks a bit complicated..i ran the Prep,MSI,WU/WUAU parts, but decided against the rest since i had no idea what i was doing.are there any guides out there for it?shud i run the SSL/HTTPS/Cryptography or the Registration Center things?will they help out @ all?couldnt really find any guide on their site or google, still im curious if some1 wud care to enlighten me a bit about the program. The Tools section seems pretty kool, very helpful id imagine
  16. i think somebody on this site might have recommended antivir actually, cant remember exactly.i use kaspersky internet security suite myself, absolutly love it.have never had virus problems since i started using it a few years ago
  17. hehe Blink sounds nice, but i think ill pass after your experience sorry to go a little off-topic,but how good is this dial-a-fix program you speak of?i was reading on their site and it sounds good.will it find many errors?worth having?any other info wud be helpful
  18. i wud have used it myself back in the day when i was trying out loads of different programs, but ive finally settled on my pc security programs now has it ever found any interesting results for u?
  19. kool program.wudnt use it that often myself though
  20. ive been using system mechanic for a few years now, since SM5 i think, while generally its features arent that great i decided to keep it due to nostalgic value+the fact that their "pc total care" or "pc repair" are helpful enough.but i have to admit SM7 does look a lot better, and the inclusion of kaspersky virus and firewall is a smart move.what spyware program are they using in the new version?they used to use "spyhunter" which was ridiculously bad, hopefully they got rid of it,and the registry cleaner has never been particularly good either. tbh you would prob be better off using ccleaner(which seems to do the exact same as all the different cleaning tools in SM7),ad-aware for spyware since this is probably SM7s weakest part(assuming they still using spyhunter),and shud be easy to get some good free registry cleaner, same for anti virus and firewall. SM7 worth $69.99?hell no

    Freeware!

http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/ peerguardian 2,all ill say is that its an excellent program
  22. i doubt ccleaner has done anything wrong,it seems to be a pretty safe program.im sure an admin can tell you more you should consider getting a better anti virus and spyware program than norton and "no adware" - which ive never heard of which cant be good - AVG anti virus would suit you a lot better, and "ad-aware" or "spybot - search and destroy" would be better anti spyware programs can get em on www.downloads.com
