  1. There should be less problems with it because now 2.0 has a blacklist of things that shouldn't be removed, there was no such thing in 1.7f. However to keep things safe and running on your hdd I don't recommend using the Duplicates button.

That would be a whitelist. ;)

  2. No the button on the drive works fine, but I can only open the drive with it and I have to actually push the drive in a little bit to close it, becuase the door over the drive flips down and blocks the button. The door over the drive has a button on that just pushes the one on the drive itself to open.

Does it flip down in a loose way? If so you can just raise it a little and press the button.

  3. Is their a way to make an icon that will open and close your cd rom drive? The way my pc's case is you cant close the cd drive with the button you can only open it with it (it has some kind of spring door thing in front of it). Well my pc has a dual layer dvd burner in it and I really dont want it to get broken being closed by hand.

The button doesn't respond to being pressed for closing it..?

  4. Seems Kaspersky AntiVirus got Richard Karn (Al) from Home Improvement to model for them.

Amazing what age does, isn't it?

I'm going to laugh for all who thought this was serious.

  5. Erm, I've just warned people, and I have an official copy of WinXP.

The screenshot is taken from my laptop that I test everything on ...

Just warned the users that have an illegal copy, you dont want 100 kids whinning on this forum "after update my windows crashed"; do you ?

So far you're the only one. Stop promoting warez.

  6. Can you PLEASE stop talking about having illeagal software. I'm about 98% sure that no one here has an illeagal copy of windows except you. This is not the forum for talking about that, this forum is for helping people with computer related problems and just learning in general.

I gotta agree with you. It's getting tiresome to constantly see.

This is not a warez site! Links/Requests to warez and/or illegal material (porn, cracks, serials, etc..) will not be tolerated. Discussion of circumventing activation/timebombs/keygens or any other illegal activity will also not be tolerated. If you ignore any of the aforementioned you will receive a final warning. If you choose to continue, you will be banned without notice.

MrG, want some help making a set of rules to post in the Announcements forum?

  7. Depending on your perspective this seems like a bug or at a minimum a limitation of the "Internet Explorer --> Temporary Internet Files" cleaning.  When selected you loose your "Favorites" icon's (assuming your have any).  I have about 15 percent with Icons and they are removed with this option selected.  It would be desirable to keep the "Favorites" icons and remove all of the other temporary files.  Perhaps an option for "all but favorite icons" and one for "everything"

    Sample file location:

    "c:\documents and settings\user\local settings\temporary internet files\content.ie5\sd67slqv\favicon[1].ico"

    My two cents.

It's not a bug and has been covered in another thread. CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) cleans out all the junk and crap from your recent Internet history, etc. It's also a good thing that they get cleaned because if a website has a new icon it allows it to be found a bit faster.

  8. do you guys update your windows by turning on automatic updates or do you go to windows update website and update from there?

I always go to the site. I do the Custom version to make sure I get more than just the critical stuff. Works wonders when I need it and I check every so often.

  9. thanks tarun once again... :D i am actually just curious to know why...

It's just like a game or anything else. It needs more memory as it gets more intensive. It takes up the same memory as IE, though IE will report less memory since it uses the IE core which is part of Windows.

Uninstall the AOL toolbar. You may also wish to use Firefox and Quicktime Alternative

  11. Its from Bill O Reilly, his catch phrase is "the spin stops here". If you ever watch him he basically tells people what ever they think is BS and tells them the "right" answer. So basically it was a nice way of telling you that you dont know what your talking about.

    I thought it was funny.

The reason you think its tense on this forum is because youve pissed everyone off. you just came on here and started telling people that they were wrong and you are right. Its fine to put out your oppinion but dont be an ass about it. Also listen to what others are saying too because to be honest no one here thinks you know what your talking about (or maybe its just me).

    Very well said! icon_clap.gif

    Hi,

Since I am using Firefox more and more as my primary browser (because IE is unsafe and provides a lot of ad-ware and spyware), I noticed that CCleaner does not clean the internet cache and internet history of Firefox.

This 'refusal to clean' also happened with IE sometimes, but after you had performed a second scan everything was cleared.

However, CCleaner doesn't clean the Mozilla cache and history AT all. Do other Mozilla/Firefox-users have the same problem? Any suggestions?

    Hello,

Sorry for the late response, but my OS is Windows XP. I also noticed that CCleaner also refuses to clean the 'search words' entered at Google. And the URL history remains even after running CCleaner several times.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Do you happen to have multiple partitions or hard drives in your computer? This might be a cause of the problem.

Do let us know where you, Mina have installed Firefox to. :)

  13. Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but ran CCleaner for yonks on W98, now with xp, internet explorer wont let me download. Can you help. Already have Regcleaner which I got off a disc and now xp.anti-spy.Cheers TIA

If need be I can PM you a private mirror.

  14. When a company is forcing users to use their product by intentionally breaking compatiblity and using closed standards to prevent alternative software, then that piece of software indeed does deserve some real bashing.

Hm. With you breaking the standards all of the users of this forum have such as a polite etiquette and being courteous towards others, by what you say we can freely bash you as well.

Sorry, I don't function that way. I help people as nicely as I can and for the ones whom -much like you- don't want to help but instead tell them not to use it, etc. I feel they should leave the forums. You're heading down that road.

  15. Some programs deserves to get bashed (example, spyware infested mal/nag-ware).

Maybe he should change his mind, because a AntiVirus program is supposed to be good at detecting viruses, not have fancy skins with shiny buttons that hogs the processing power and the memory on the computer.

He made his decision, and quite frankly I believe it was a good one. As do many other pc techs.

  16. CCleaner is for people who want to avoid spyware and crap.

CuteFTP contains the TimeSink spyware, hence it sucks.

Congrats, you just proved how uneducated you are.

    Straight from the CCleaner.com frontpage.

CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less that a second to run) and FREE! :)

CCleaner is about cleaning junk files from your system, removing temp files and cleaning MRU files. It doesn't look for spyware. It can clean some out of the TEMP directories, but it doesn't scan or seek it out.

  17. Why don't you just leave?  Nobody appreciates your negative comments, especially regarding the language that MrG (the proprietor) chooses to write CCleaner in.  You are basically directly insulting him, and your presence is indirectly insulting to technicians everywhere.

I agree. Vote him off the forum. :D
