  1. I wonder why the Check for Updates option via the Java icon in the Control Panel never works because according to the documentation it's supposed to be able to auto-update itself.

I agree, it's a complete waste of time.

  2.

Hope this may help anyone else who ever has this problem.

Thanks Hazelnut. I've had a very similar (and very wierd) problem for over a year, but this seems to have fixed it. Who would have thought? :)

  3. im not one for reading at all,

Well it's about time you started. :D

I think The Hobbit is still in copyright so you are unlikely to find it freely available over the net. Getting it from a library is a different matter.

  4. I have 100 mbit/s downstream and 10 mbit/s upstream for 32?. :D

I don't live in the Capitalist States of America though.

100Mb are you serious? We don't have anything like that speed in Britain. The usual here is 10mb cable and 8mb DSL for about ?18 per month (depending on how much you download)

  5. Hi, Welcome to the forum. I think the issues cleaner is very safe. I've never had a problem with it. It's always wise to accept the offer of a backup though, just in case.

  6. Hi, Welcome to the forum.

    1. You don't need to analyse. Just click "run cleaner"

2.Options > Advanced. Check "close program after cleaning" But I'm not sure whether it's possible to make it shut down your computer. I don't think so. Others may know better. :)

  7. Actually, I just want to live in Sweden and I'm hoping this will work...

Some friends of mine returned recently from an extended stay in Sweden. They hated it. After further probing as to it's good points, there was a long pause, then, after much deliberation, one of them piped up....Well, it is clean, but I'd rather die of pollution than boredom.

  8. If you or anyone may be interested, The NY Times has an extensive archive of transcripts from interviews with the first responders. The interviews were done quite some time after 9/11 but they offer a first hand view of that terrible day.

    It is located here.

    Thanks for that link Mike.

  9. I am having a problem with Firefox. The sidebar bookmarks function is not working right. Everytime I open Firevox, I have to click on View/Sidebar/Bookmarks to bring up my favorites. I am using Firefox Version 1.5.0.6. Does anyone know a solution?

It might be a good idea to post Here
