  1. Hey cowboy, I'm very new to Firefox myself but I have to say that I think it's wonderful. (Please see the thread I started a little further down the page) The beauty of it is that it sits hapilly side by side with IE on your desktop. You have both at your disposal. The extensions in Firefox are a joy. Just keep playing and experimenting, that's what I'm doing. Good luck. :)

    Stuart.

  2. I'm not a fan of no script. I dont like having to load sites twice to get them to load fully because that extension blocks something. Yeah I know its for security but I want security and no hassle. :D

Tabs are nice when you multi task and research. I usually have about 10-15 of them open at all times while I reply to various forums, check email, ect. Remember that ctrl+T is the hotkey to open tabs. I have FF to set to load google for each new tab that I open(I did this with tab browser preferences but tab mix might do this as well).

Here are my extensions if you need some suggestions.(google toolbar is where I get spell check icon from)

Just a quick update. I've been playing with Firefox for about a week now, and I have to say I think it's wonderful. I can't see myself ever using IE again. Btw rridgely, I just love the colorful tabs extension, thanks for that. :)

  3. Thanks rridgely for the quick reply. I've already dowloaded Adblock, No script and Tab mix plus. I've never used tabbed browsing before so don't really know how to use it for the best, but I'm sure I'll get used to it with a bit of experimentation.

  4. Hi everybody. Well I've finally taken the plunge and downloaded Firefox, been meaning to try it for ages. I've only ever used IE before and atm everything seems a bit odd. I know that a lot of people here use Firefox, so any help, advice or encouragement will be much appreciated. I feel all at sea right now.

  5. Well I think a simple approach would be to just link to Filehippo.com which I myself visit several times a day. Putting something like this in the profile signature would probably be better (just an example):

    Filehippo.com - the newest downloads

Filehippo.com also have small buttons/logos that link to their website, therefore I don't understand the need for this thread since there's already a software forum sub-section, and a freeware thread, albeit there also does need to be a pinned Commercial Software thread for those paid apps that people can't live without. Just my opinions right or wrong, anyways I won't post in this thread anymore so as to not ruin it.

Amen to that. I agree with you completely.

  6. This is the first time I've ever tried to capture a screenshot, so here goes...

Looks like I did something wrong. I'll try again. I hope you people don't mind me experimenting. :)

  7. Diskeeper 10 or Perfect Disk

    both work great

Thanks for that. I've heard other good reports of Perfect Disk, so I think I'll give that a try.
