  1. Whatever! You're not sloooowwww.... Maybe a smart**s though.
  2. How do you know that? I manually deleted the uninstall folders on another computer, and rebooted. After that they were still listed in the add/remove programs list (without the option to uninstall). They were still listed. Once the the $hf_mig$ folder is gone they are no longer there. I will test a second time to confirm.
  3. Do not use the 'hotfix uninstaller option'!!! There is a bug in it. Please read the following threads, and keep yourself up-to-date/informed about any registry cleaners that you are using. Read 1st Read 2nd
  4. You should post a HJT log. I don't know alot, but I know that's funky.
  5. I am so glad that all you needed was an updated driver! That issue was driving me bonkers because every solution suggested before that worked on my computer. I'm glad to have helped. Don't remember a previous time though. Have Fun!!! That's what matters!
  6. No one has suggested using 'system restore' to replace the file, only a .reg backup. We need to pass that info on as a solution. Good job! I'm glad that it worked.
  7. I forgot to say that you need to reboot after installing.
  8. Hi stint, Did you manually reinstall a hotfix? That will recreate your folder.
  9. It will recreate the folder, but the cache will only have that one update in it. You would have to manually reinstall each update to rebuild the cache.
  10. I'm not very good at explaining things. I'm glad that you figured it out!
  11. The instructions tell you to choose a double digit number. If you choose a single digit number then you didn't follow the instructions. You aren't supposed to pick a single digit number. If you pick a single digit number, and follow the math instructions you will get a negative number. I don't know an easier way to explain it. It's just a math trick! @lokoike The instructions give an example. "If you choose 23: 2+3=5. 23 minus 5 will give you your answer. Post #2 gives a more thorough explanation, but this test may help. When the screen appears look at the pictures by numbers 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81. They all have the same picture, look at a different picture than what is associated with those numbers. The ball will get it wrong.
  12. I hope that it doesn't take that long either, but it isn't fixed as of now. I reinstalled today...same problem.
  13. If Andavari's last suggestion doesn't work. Then try doing a sfc /scannow run > (type) sfc /scannow (there is a space after sfc) when prompted insert your installation CD Maybe that will work.
  14. MrG has agreed that the $hf_mg$ folder should not be removed, but the problem won't be fixed until the next version is released. For now, do not check the "hotfix uninstaller" box. Hey E, The $hf_mig$ folder doesn't contain "hotfix uninstallers". That is the bug in the "hotfix uninstallers" option - it is removing that folder and it shouldn't. We need to start telling people to not check that option. Read this CCleaner thread. Read Me
  15. Something is wrong. It should save as a .reg file. When you save the backup can you change the file type/file extension?

    Help!

Thanks for correcting me. I didn't know that.
  17. The folder will recreate itself the next time you install a hotfix.

    Help!

Do you have a ME Installation CD, or a Restoration CD? How much RAM does it have?

    Help!

Hi! "Savvy", great word. Follow Eldmannen's instructions for installing CCleaner on the computer. If your kids are not old enough to use a registry cleaner (CCleaner), then right click the installer and choose run as. Tick Aministrator, then run CCleaner. Also, DO NOT check the "Hotfix Uninstallers" box, it has a bug. What OS is it? Have a great day! K
  20. If one was wrong then you did your math wrong once. If you do your math correctly the picture will be right every time. And you don't need to stare/concentrate on the picture. Just look at it, the click the ball, and it will be a match.
  21. Scratch the 0 to 9. You have to choose a 2 digit number. So that makes 9 possible solutions total.
  22. Does it say that you're up to date because those installations are recorded in your update history? There is a bug in the "hotfix uninstaller". You should not use that option. Read Me (I thought that it was fixed, but it isn't.)
  23. That's pretty cool. It tripped me out at first. But there is a trick (kinda). The way that you are supposed to calculate the numbers makes only 10 possible solutions. Therefore, no matter what number you choose your total will be 1 out of 10 possibilities. They get lucky. But it's still fun. Any number between 90 to 99 will = 81 80 to 89 = 72 70 to 79 = 63 60 to 69 = 54 50 to 59 = 45 40 to 49 = 36 30 to 39 = 27 20 to 29 = 18 10 to 19 = 9 0 to 9 = 0 All of these 10 possibilities have the same picture. ; )
