Ron, What we're trying to tell you is that your computer appears to be broken. If you're a newcomer to a forum and you describe what appears to be a broken computer, you can't expect people to have any confidence in your recommended tweaks. Just as an example, Freecell is supposed to be in C:\WINDOWS\System32 not C:\Program Files\MSN Gaming Zone\Windows and, on over 20 computers at the office and 3 at home, it has never tried to "phone home" ... and yes, I'm one those geeks that reads firewall logs in his spare time. DjLizard has credibility because of his track record ... people report problems, he fixes them. I'm "in the engineering field and over the age of 30 (by a couple of decades)", and trust me, age has nothing to do with it ... You are what you do when it counts.

See this thread on Cookies Check both lists. If they differ, you may have to manually delete some from one list (they're not really there, just the names are) to bring them into synch.

Not quite the same thing but a similar concept ... CleanCache allows you to keep cookies for you Favorites. Enabling that feature automatically adds all such cookies to the "Cookies to keep" list during the cleaning process. Being able to name specific domains (without necessarily adding them to Favorites) would be even better.

Would those of you who, like me, are experiencing problems with the look of the forum please check your security. I have found that the images are not downloading because my firewall blocks outgoing information about visited sites. Disabling that feature allows the site to load normally. I have not been able to detect any problem on my computer and I am not having this problem at any other site. I find this very disturbing.

I don't get any distortion but most images are gone ... I have the red X placeholders everywhere. The ad banners still show.

The power supply on USB 1.0 can be as low as 4.4 volts. You're adapter would be running without adequate power.

To eliminate the obvious: 1. is it possible that your computer has limited-current ports or USB 1.0 (rather than 1.1 or 2.0); or 2. are you connecting your adapter through a long extension or an unpowered USB hub; or 3. do you have multiple USB devices hooked up?

At a typical location, what doe the Network Monitor indicate? On the Site Survey, does it detect the access point to which you're trying to connect? Does it detect a lot of other nearby access points? Once connected, what kind of Noise Level and Signal Strength readings are you getting? What make/model of access point(s) are you trying to use?

Which operating system? ... which browser? ... which version of CCleaner? Do the other CCleaner functions work?

All the major manufacturers (Dell, HP, etc.) have secure online sales. They can usually provide "next business day" parts and service in most countries.

There aren't many differences between Windows XP Home and Professional but she may need Professional if she's connecting to any special app's at her company. The best bet would be to consult her company's IT support. She should have no problem using Office 2003 (in Word, set the compatibilty to Word 2002) but, if she really needs to, I think that legally she can get an Office 2003 license and load Office XP from an old CD (her company must have some kicking around). It seems to me the Office XP bundles weren't quite the same as for Office 2003 so be careful and check for the app's she needs rather than rely on the version of the suite, e.g., Professional, Small Business, etc.

That level of fragmentation shouldn't result in a recommendation to defrag but I think the problem is that this part of the report: doesn't seem to make sense relative to the rest. I found one article in "Windows XP Annoyances for Geeks" regarding incomplete defrags. In addition to the usual "close all non-essential programs and background processes", they specifically suggest temporarily disabling the Disk Indexing service in the drive properties. It might be worth trying.

Windows XP is the current operating system. The two commercial versions are Professional and Home. Office XP (obsolete) is a suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). The adjective "Professional", etc. denotes what else is included, e.g., PowerPoint, etc. The current suite is Office 2003 but 2007 has been announced.

What are the top few files in the "Most fragmented files" list in the Analysis Report?

Provide some info ... Operating system? ... Harddrive? ... Used/free space?

Each site should use only one cookie to track all the articles read, e.g., <username>@forum.ccleaner.com for this site, but if you use a lot of sites, it could still be a problem.

Seems harsh ... I don't think they had access to the tape until the trial was over. All 5 cops were tried and sentenced to prison last year.

Have you ever considered there's a connection? I don't get more than a handful of errors a year regularly using 4 PC's.

I have a Samsung YP-MT6 and have no problem with the drag & drop. EDIT: Consider assigning the player a fixed drive letter and/or mapping it to a mounted desktop folder so it always shows up in the same place.

You can use Control Panel > System > System Restore to set the maximum drivespace to be used (minimum 200MB).
