Has anyone noticed a new service installed on your computer - NVIDIA Settings Update Manager Service? Like the name implies, it is used to check for new updates from the NVIDIA server. It was automatically installed on my PC today. I question that this is even necessary. Before I disable it I wanted your opinion on the matter, in case you fine knowledgeable people recommend leaving it alone. I run Windows 7.

Yes, for sure hazel. The saddest for me was watching my older brother (8 years older than me) die from spinal cancer at the young age of 45. My Dad died from lung cancer at age 78. On an extreme personal note I had prostate cancer 9 years ago and opted for surgery. One year later they found the cancer was not totally gone and I then had radiation for 3 solid weeks. This seemed to have worked well and no trace of remaining cancer was found until last year. Apparently there are still some cancerous prostate cells left so I had a ton of tests done and apparently the cancer is so minute that they couldn't find its location. For now they are watching my PSA count very closely. My next appointment with a cancer specialist is in June. Depending on how much my PSA has increased (i.e. how much the cancer has spread) they will either continue to watch my PSA level or recommend treatment at that time. If a cure for cancer comes true in the future it will sure help so many people. The key is to never give up hope.

Hi pwillener. Are you sure it's a mountain jackdaw? The bird in the picture seems much larger than a mountain jackdaw. Looks more like an eagle to me, but regardless, very interesting shot.

I saw the movie Life of Pi in 3D a few days ago. Some scenes have fabulous visual appeal . Amazing how they shot some of the animal scenes. Anyway, just wanted to recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it. Better hurry, it will probably be out of the cinemas soon.

I uninstalled Java. Unfortunately my wife needs it to play games on Pogo, so on her PC I disabled Java in Fierefox and left it enabled on her IE. Now she only uses IE for Pogo and Firefox for everything else.

Andavari, have you always had Java disabled? To be honest I haven't given it much thought and have always had Java enabled. However, due to this post, I just now disabled Java Platform in Firefox.

Never used Skype. So after March 15th. I'll see whether I prefer Skype or change to Yahoo Messenger (which I have never used either).
