    Welcome 2017

Hi nukecad. Sorry to hear that you've had such a tough last 2 months. Hopefully 2017 will be much better for you.
  3. At a monastery high in the mountains, the monks have a rigid vow of silence. Only at Christmas, and only by one monk, and only with one sentence, is the vow allowed to be broken. One Christmas, Brother Thomas is allowed to speak and he says "I like the mashed potatoes we have with the Christmas turkey!" and he sits down. Silence ensues for 365 days. The next Christmas, Brother Michael gets his turn, and he says "I think the mashed potatoes are lumpy and I hate them!". Once again, silence for 366 days (it's leap year). The following Christmas, Brother Paul rises and says "I am fed up with the constant bickering!".
  4. ditto for me. One of he Malwarebytes techs tried to help solve the problem I was having with version 2 and it never did work right. I gave up.
  5. Just watched an excellent documentary regarding climate change. Do yourself a favour, watch "Before The Flood" - it is 90 minutes well spent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SU2rN2QYAK0
  6. Willy, good stuff! Thanks for the laughs! Another good one is Trump & Hilary singing "Time of My Life": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8Wde1fFvPg
  7. Thank you mta for detailing the issue - what you said is exactly what I was referring to. @ Andavari, I agree with you 100%
  8. I'm sorry if this subject has been covered in the past. I cannot help myself anymore, I have to ask - why the heck does the update link within CCleaner end up as a download from Filehippo? That to me is bizarre. At least give the option of choosing to download from Piriform. Very annoying. I had to create a link to download updates from Piriform, so now when I am notified of an update I open my browser and click the link I created. Why would Piriform do that?
  9. I realize that many members of this forum (perhaps even most) use free versions of antivirus programs. For reasons that I will explain in a near future post, I would like your expert opinions on what paid Internet Security programs you use (if you use one) or if you don't currently use a paid version, what you would buy if need be? Forgive me if this info has already been posted somewhere on this forum. As always, I really appreciate your time and efforts.
  10. Ya! I figured it would take quite sometime. I should have just cancelled the post.
  11. Andavari, for the benefit of some, perhaps sometime when you have time, you could list your windows configuration. That would probably take too long, forget I mentioned it!
  12. Thank you login and Hazel, I really appreciate your input (as always) and I'll check out both today - I'll post what I decide later. EDIT: Hazel, do you know if you get a free version with the Glasswire Free download, or are you required to upgrade after a trial period? Willy2: I realize that Windows firewall is running (and with no conflicts) but as far as I know, Windows Firewall only guards incoming traffic, not outgoing traffic. In other words it would not stop malicious traffic from leaving your PC and communicating with the evil behind it. Naturally the object is to not have any malicious activity on your PC in the first place.
  13. I have Trend Micro Internet Security which I thought included a firewall, I found out that it does not :-( Now I am trying to find a good firewall that will not conflict with Trend Micro, any recommendations? Apparently Zone Alarm free would conflict with it according to info on the Zone Alarm website.
  14. Thank you aBoijj, I'm all set.
  15. Is that not only if your router was supplied by you ISP? We purchased ours from another source. Only the modem was supplied by our ISP.
  16. tvm for the link mta. I'll update the firmware and then proceed with configuration according to the instructions. Thanks again. @ login: glad you feel better now Hopefully I will too soon. Note: In case you haven't yet, it's a very good idea to change your password from the password that it was shipped with (usually "admin").
  17. A scan with Avast revealed that our router had been infected. A notice further reads: "Your router has been compromised and your network connections are being routed through a malicious remote server". Part of another message reads: "Your router has been hacked and its DNS settings have been modified to serve malicious contents". I immediately changed the router password via the TP-Link page on my browser (192.168.0.1). Besides performing a firmware update to our router, is there anything else that you would recommend that I do? Our router is: TP-Link Wireless N Gigabit Router Model: TL-WR1043ND Version 2
  18. How do I import bookmarks from Opera 34 to Firefox 43? I just don't seem to be able to find this info. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  19. I had the same problem and thought it was Trend Micro blocking the download for some weird reason. I had just updated my Trend Micro software. I will now try your link Hazel. Thanks.
  20. A heartfelt Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to all. May 2016 be a happy and healthy year for us all.

    DennisD?

I couldn't have said it better myself Tasgandy. Dennis is a class act and I miss him on Piriform.
  22. That was exactly what I meant :-) Good to know, thanks again.
  23. Thank you Andavari for your good advice (as usual). I tried both ways and they work perfectly.
  24. Hi all :-) What is the best free MP4 to MP3 converter that is safe to download and use? I wish to use it if I ever download MP4 videos from YouTube. As always, thank you for your time
