  1. Hi guys & gals, long time no see :-) I saw this video earlier today and wanted to post the link here for all to enjoy. YouTube footage of Penquins
  2. For me buying a new drive is not an option. I don't really feel like spending the money and the time to do that. I'll uninstall most of the programs and just leave a few that I figure who ever I give my PC to may find useful. Thanks to the advice given on here, I'll then find and delete all .dats & .logs & .txts & .manifest files and then run CCleaner's Wipe Free Space a few times. I'll then run Recuva using Deep Scan mode and delete anything it finds and that I'm able to get my hands on. This should likely do the trick. First of all, I am not a Secret Agent with multitudes of secret information and second of all, the odds would be very slim that the person who ends up with my PC is actually interested in finding secret info on me and if he/she was, would they even be capable of finding it. Does this make any sense? As always, thank you all for your help.
  3. Is there a full proof way to wipe out all personal info on your PC so it will be safe to pass the computer onto someone else? I was told the only full-proof way is to re-install the operating system (in my case XP) - I'm hoping there would be another way.
  4. TY Hazel, you're right it's not a bad help page for Microsoft. Unfortunately I had tried all the things they mention and still no printer for my wife :-( If we can't fix the problem then we'll work around it by me going (via HomeGroup) into her PC and grabbing the file she wants printed and then proceed to print it out.
  5. We have 2 computers which is on the same Home Group network in Windows 7. I have a printer (HP Deskjet 3050) but my wife can't access it from her PC. Any ideas?
  6. I just had two new computers made (with Windows 7) by a very competent guy who recommended I try the free version of CIS. He has been using it for awhile and finds it very good. So far so good. I'll post back here if I find I'm not happy with it and give the reasons why.
  7. Hi Aethec, I tried MozBackup and it didn't work for me, in both cases. But as per my last post in the Firefox tread, I found a solution. With Thunderbird I have already set up accounts manually and manually entered all contacts. Thanks for trying to help.
  8. As per added instructions found here: http://support.mozil...ync?s=sync&as=s'>http://support.mozil...ync?s=sync&as=s and after that: http://support.mozil...ync?s=sync&as=s I was able to accomplish the task. Now my Firefox on my new Windows 7 computer is a copy of my Firefox on my old XP computer. Thanks you for the help Nergal, I appreciate it!
  9. My mistake, I neglected to mention that my old system was XP and my new system is Windows 7. I wasn't able to find a User Application Data folder in Windows 7. Research revealed that apparently you can't transfer Firefox settings etc. from XP to Windows 7. You can however from Vista to Windows 7. (see link below). Firefox transfer
  10. Does anyone know the best way to transfer Thunderbird account info & contacts from an old computer to a new computer?
  11. TY also Aethec, I'll use this if I have a problem with what Andavari posted.
  12. TY very much Andavari for the detailed instructions, I really appreciate it. I will be doing this sometime today - if I have a problem I'll let you know. I'll also be saving these instructions in case I need them in the future.
  13. I'll be getting a new computer soon and wondered what the best way to transfer all your Firefox 4 data (layout, settings, bookmarks, etc.) from your old PC to your new one.?
  14. Has anyone had experience with or currently using Comodo Internet Security (free version). If so, what is your opinion on it? From what I read and hear it sounds very good. Comodo Internet Security

    defrag question

TY kroozer for your help. I took your advice. Also, thank you for the tip regarding file-only defrag - I have never realized that option.
  19. I'm visiting my friends in Florida and wanted to help them by doing a defrag on their system. I downloaded Defraggler and ran Analyze which posted a result of 51% fragmentation. I then ran defrag and after many hours the result surprised me. Fragmentation was at 50% - i.e. it had only improved 1%. I feel the only explanation is that the drive is partitioned and I'm not sure how to deal with this. They have Vista. See the image below. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
  20. Amazing. I would love this!
  21. Oops, missed your post Hazel sorry to repeat the link. Just delete this post Hazel, thanks.
