  1. Just thinking out loud here about how I would go about it if I was in your situation.

    Let's see?

Partition the drive so I have "D" to install into.

Download a virtual cd rom emulator and a Windows 2000 iso.

If the iso boots from within the virtual cd rom point the install to "D".If not then unpack the iso and use the setup.exe.

All "big ifs" here and if the install is successfull then will probably have to modify the boot.ini to boot from D or will bios automatically ask which system I would like to boot from?

OK, let's say we've booted Win 2000 from D but we want it on C and we want to get rid of XP then we could maybe use an imaging app to image D to C which will overwrite XP and now we're booting Win 2000 from C (maybe)

All the above is speculation and I probably wouldn't attempt it but it was sorta fun thinking about it.

But you never know as I have a few spare hard drives I just may give a go one day.

And if I really wanted Win 2000 even without getting rid of XP then I would use MS virtual PC and a virtual hard drive with this depending on being able to download an iso of course.

  2. Would you go back to work if you won a million

Gotta admire the fella in the story below.

A man who scooped ?1.3m on the Lottery has returned to work - flipping burgers at his local McDonald's.

Luke Pittard, 25, walked out on his ?5.85 an hour job 18 months ago after becoming a millionaire.

But money can't always buy you happiness.

The man dubbed the "McMillionaire" has discovered he misses his pals at the Cardiff branch of the restaurant too much to give up work.

"I loved my work at McDonald's before I won the money, and I'm really enjoying being back there again," he said.

"There are so many familiar faces that it was like coming back to a group of old friends."

  3. From Bold Fortune's slimming XP guide with system file protection needing to be disabled to delete the xerox folder residing in C:\Program Files.

    C:\Program Files\xerox

I delete the xerox folder and its contents.

The xerox folder contains files used by Xerox applications. By default this folder is empty.

  4. Four months after he was declared brain dead and doctors were about to remove his organs for transplant, Zach Dunlap says he feels "pretty good."

His father, Doug, said he saw the results of the brain scan.

"There was no activity at all, no blood flow at all."

Zach's mother, Pam, said that when she discovered he was still alive, "That was the most miraculous feeling."

"We had gone, like I said, from the lowest possible emotion that a parent could feel to the top of the mountains again," she said.

She said her son is doing "amazingly well," but still has problems with his memory as his brain heals from the traumatic injury.

"It may take a year or more ... before he completely recovers," she said. "But that's OK. It doesn't matter how long it takes. We're just all so thankful and blessed that we have him here."

Dunlap now has the pocketknife that was scraped across his foot, causing the first reaction.

"Just makes me thankful, makes me thankful that they didn't give up," he said. "Only the good die young, so I didn't go."

  6. Imagine driving down the street in this jet powered semi.

The semi jet truck is back and this footage is amazingly close up. In fact I don't think the onlookers knew what they were in for because you can see the panic set in as soon as the truck started firing its jet engines.

    Jet Truck at Drags

This plane is no match for this rocket powered truck. This truck has rocket power boosters that look like they came from NASA. This truck does everything but take flight although it probably could have done that too. But it did probably burn a couple more holes in the ozone.

  7. Train, Plane or UFO?

Just to see it live at top speed would be awesome even though the sighting wouldn't last too long.

The TGV is France's high-speed rail service developed by GEC-Alsthom (now Alstom) and SNCF, the French national rail operator, and operated primarily by SNCF. Following the inaugural TGV service between Paris and Lyon in 1981, the TGV network, centred on Paris, has expanded to connect cities across France and in adjacent countries. It holds the record for the fastest wheeled train, having reached 574.8 km/h (357 mph) on 3 April 2007, and also holds the world's highest average speed for a regular passenger service. TGV is a registered trademark of SNCF. TGV trains travel at up to 320 km/h (200 mph) in commercial use.

  8. Foxit is the one I use with a couple of others in the article below that are new to me.

PDF Files have been a very powerful mode of communication (used esp. for long text files), and unfortunately none of the Windows versions have that as an in-built utility. PDF Files need special software to open/read a PDF File, this software is generally termed as PDF Reader.

Here I am enlisting the five most widely used PDF Readers with a comparison table at the end to show the best pdf readers out of it. Get more on software tested in our compared and tested series

  9. The multiple posts glitch has happened before.

For the wireless prob you could check in services and make sure that the "Wireless Zero Configuration Service" is set to auto and has started.

  10. For cleanups on other pc's I use SuperAntispyware and Dr Web's Cureit as starters.

Runscanner and or Hijackthis if needed.

On my own systems Sandboxie, Returnil and Ghost Images/Clones are mainstays.

  11. If you haven't changed the default password on your home router, do so now. That's what researchers at Symantec and Indiana University are saying, after publishing the results of tests that show how attackers could take over your home router using malicious JavaScript code.

For the attack to work, the bad guys would need a couple of things to go their way. First, the victim would have to visit a malicious Web site that served up the JavaScript. Second, the victim's router would have to still use the default password that it's pre-configured with it out of the box.

  12. Over the past 24 hours, we?ve have seen a rash of malicious spam pushing screensavers that are, in reality, backdoor trojans (VirustTotal report here, with very poor detection by most engines). It is unknown how widespread these spams are.

Both of the sites that we have observed hosting these screensavers appear compromised. One is already down, and we are in the process of attempting to get the other one taken down.

Clicking on the link brings the user to a very realistic ?3d screensaver? page:
