  1. Nope, didn't realise and if it is then it's a great commercial.
  2. Being an Aussie I don't know much about baseball but I can tell a brilliant catch when I see one and by a young ball girl to boot. How embarrassing for the adult male players! Incredible Catch
  3. Some say that Nagging 5.3 should never be installed unless absolutely needed as in the long term it can cause irreversible damage. My wife of 30 years installed Nagging 5.3 from day one and things seem to be running ok atm as I installed "Plenty Beer 2.4" that seems to counter any ill effets and is spyware and adware free.
  4. Just received a very similar email and even though a scam I had a bit of a chuckle as well seeing as all I had to do was fill out the form to claim my million pound win. MS Lottery Scam Article
  5. Here I copy and paste C:\Documents and Settings\"USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla folder to another partition/usb as backup. If you delete that folder or move it to another location and on restarting Firefox it will go through the motions of a fresh install. Inside of the Mozilla folder there is a Profile folder. If trying out FF portable you can delete the contents of the profile folder within then copy and paste the contents of the Mozilla Profile folder which will give FF portable all of your settings. There are tools such as MozBackup that some people use for backup purposes.
  6. The portable version's cache is set to zero and with no cache browsing is much slower.
  7. Just tried FF 3 installed within a Returnil session and inside Sandboxie which will save any uninstalls if I don't like it and which I don't! No noticable speed difference and one of my addons, yahoo mail checker, doesn't work properly. I told Mozilla about a bug a while back in that if I go to Bookmarks - Bookmarks Toolbar Folder, right click it and select - Open All in Tabs then all your other bookmarks open instead of the Tabs Bar bookmarks and it still doesn't seem to be fixed or it may be my setup? FF 2 is running fine and fast here.I have tweaked it a fair bit and atm I intend sticking with it for quite a while, but will probably give FF 3 a run every so often to see if it improves.
  8. What a laugh. We all make spelling mistakes but in certain circumstances you would certainly check.

With Firefox here if I post a reply to a topic and I have another forum tab open it seems to stall after hitting "Add Reply". With no other forum tab open any reply posts go through just about straight away. Can any FF users confirm.
  12. Only have WMP 11 on this Vista install and not on XP. Does WMP 11 add a "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" or something similar in XP's services? You could try disabling any services relating to such and sere if it helps.
  13. Change the shortcut target properties to "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" /Task NowPlaying and it should open in the now playing window. Here are some useful commandline parameters and their description. /Task NowPlaying Open the Player in the Now Playing tab /Task MediaGuide Open the Player in the Online store tab /Task CDAudio Open the Player in the Rip tab /Task CDWrite Open the Player in the Burn tab /Task Library Open the Player in the Library tab /Task SkinViewer Open the Player in the Skin Chooser mode /Task PortableDevice Open the Player in the Sync tab
  14. You may want to have a look at Secure Login and maybe Sxipper which are FF addons. I'm using Secure Login and it seems fine for what I need.Haven't tried the other.
  15. I think in order for Firefox to drop it's mem usage whem minimized you need to have or add the config.trim_on_minimize to about:config. FF Tweak Guide Also setting both pipelining entries to true within about:config can speed up browsing quite a bit. Back to windows and I have used vLite and nLite to create unattended install disks where I start the install, walk away for 20 odd minutes then come back and there's the desktop with my drivers and half my tweaks installed. Then with XP I go over to Bold Fortune's? slimming XP guide and mainly get rid of the larger files/folders that I deem unnecessary for my setup. One such folder I delete the contents of is the system32 dll cache which is used for backup purposes. This folder contains near on 2,500 files at around 400 meg. Now why would I want to delete the contents and slim XP/Vista?Mainly because I use Ghost Images as backups and it means that Ghost has less data to backup improving performance not to mention that any defrags and security scans are way faster due to less data there is to defrag/scan. But we are all different and I have a good/bad habit (which ever way you want to look at it) of ripping a system to pieces to see how it works and I have had to use my Ghost Images to get me out of the manure on quite a few occassions. I also store Ghost Images on usb drives where I can hook up any hard drive, boot from Ghost floppy and restore any image in under 5 minutes. This also saves a full install, tweaking, slimmimg and activation. My slimmed down Vista Ultimate install on an old 120 gig drive.
  16. This only seems to work in XP and not Vista. Open taskmanager and note explorer's mem usage. Leave taskmanager running and open My Documents then minimize to tray and then note explorer's mem. Note Taskmanager's mem usage and minimize then bing it back up. Using Returnil here using the mem cache method and I want my system to use as much memory as it needs. Vista uses a superfetch feature which loads most frequently apps into memory after desktop comes up.
  17. At only a cool $120 million I might get two! Article
  18. If you do decide to uninstall Norton 360 it may be best to use Symantec's Norton 360 removal tool.
  19. I do use some linux distros but much prefer XP/Vista. I never use dual boot as I've seen too many probs relating to such. Just as easy to plug/unplug a hard drive with which ever system I feel like using. Have you ever tried Wubi?
  20. Go into device manager and check the driver for the cd. If it is in there you can right click and see if it is enabled or does it have a yellow exclamation mark?
  21. Had a look around and found this which may help?
  22. Thanks for the reply YoKenny. Have sent off an email and hope it ain't sold as yet.
  23. ErrorSmart seems to be listed as a rogue. You could try a scan with RogueRemover and SuperAntispyware then post a hijackthis log in the appropriate part of this forum.
  24. I saw the below laptop advertised on one of our local for sale sites for $600 which seems quite reasonable and I have emailed the seller for a look. Never owned a laptop as yet so what do you think?
