  1. I like the old text because its bold, slightly italic and has a shadow effect. I like the new pear so can't you put the new pear in the old text?
  2. What you need is Uninstall Manager 4.30. In your case its a bit to late because you don't know what as been installed and when. The number of this type of comment that I read on forums amazes me. How can I check if I have Spyware or Malware installed. You need to keep a check on all the files on your hard drive to see if any extra ones have been added, when and where. Uninstall Manager is incorrectly named it doesn't uninstall anything. You do a scan of your hard drive to check its contents. The next time you use it it tells you what additional files have been added, when and where. You decided if you want to keep them. You can set it up to ignore certain folders e.g. Recent Documents, Temporary Internet Files, Cookies etc because these are changing all the time. You can also do a system restore. It doesn't cost much $14.95, its the best program you will ever buy. I've been using it for 5 years.

    Tools Problem

There is always Revo Uninstaller, I've just seen a link to this on here, and its free.
  4. I don't see that option in my Advanced Tab, v2.05.555.
  5. Yes Mike you just put a checkmark under Windows Explorer\Recent Documents. It will clear them everytime.
  6. Hi Hothag. If the Cookies are checked then they are deleted unless you want to retain certain cookies because you visit certain web sites regularly. I'm in about 50 different forums so I retain the Cookies from these forums so it saves remembering usernames and passwords. You would have to select these sites in the Options/Cookies dialog then these will be rertained. If you use Recuva then after you have run CCleaner run Recuva and you will see all the files that have been deleted from your Cookies folder.
  7. No, once you are on CCleaner.com you click once on Download CCleaner now... then you click once again on Alternative Download and its done, 2 clicks. So where do you get 5 or 6 clicks from? If you want to read the version history then thats on the same page.
  8. Welcome to Piriform hrpskyrunner. I've never known Recuva rename files. Every file I've recovered uses the same filename.
  9. If its not listed in Add/remove then you have probably used CCleaner to delete to caption. Have a look in CCleaner folder there should be uninst.exe that will uninstall it for you.
  10. Well you can download the BeginnersGuide.zip here, it works for me.
  11. Is CCleaner made with C++? Then why do we have this pinned topic in CCleaner bugs. The topic is closed else I would ask in there.
  12. I've read topics on here that talk about running Defraggler and Recuva in debug mode but I don't see any reference to running CCleaner.exe /debug. If I try it comes up with No update available when it checks for updates the same as Recuva does but it doesn't leave a log file in the CCleaner folder. Checking BeginnersGuide.chm it says /DEBUG - Runs the program in debug mode, only recommended for advanced users. So it doesn't produce a log file then?

    New Version

It must be a thing that effects Win98SE then. As for MSLU well it installs unicows.dll. I've downloaded unicows.exe of Microsoft, I will have to see what happens. No nothing shows up when I download it.

    auto update?

Welcome to Piriform waila. I don't know about an auto updater but when you install CCleaner you have an option to check for updates. If you install CCleaner again you will see it. You don't have to uninstall CCleaner you can just overwrite the exisiting files, so not damage is done. All the setting are saved in the registry unless you have selected to use the CCleaner.ini option.

I know the slim build is 657kb but I didn't want to slim one. I was asking whats the difference between them and you said Slim version, English language only. Then mushu13 posts picture showing all the difference languages and I haven't see that option in my build, so I was asking it that was the slim build.

    New Version

My build is the same as your link says 2.670Kb But I don't see an option to choose a language not that I want to. Mushu have you had that screendump from the slim version?

    New Version

I have what I would think is the normal version and I have only English in the Options\Settings. So are you saying I have the slim version? I've downloaded it from CCleaner and FileHippo.

    New Version

No Yahoo toolbar option. Well if thats in the slim version I can't see any reference to Yahoo in my version.
  19. You don't have to have both options ticked to use the CCleaner.ini, just the one in Advanced. No I don't use the CCleaner.ini I don't like using the registry but its the simplest option.
  20. Davey - when I tried this last night (I have my History deleted) it didn't delete my History but when I ran it again it did delete it, yesterday's as well. I ran it again today and it deleted Saturday's history but not todays. I unchecked History and it didn't appear to delete anything.
  21. I don't have this option in my Advanced hazelnut, v2.05.555. What difference will that make davey?
  22. Keithuk

    New Version

Well I'm not sure what the slim version does because I always download the normal version. In fact I downloaded it from CCleaner and FileHippo after reading this yesterday. I ran both installs and its installed v2.05.555 both times. Check the file properties of CCleaner.exe that will show the version number.
  23. Well you will have to remove them yourself. You either want backups or not. If something crashes then do a System Restore, but it won't. Ok I've just had another look in CCleaner. If you click on Options and Include button you can add your reg files to the list so when it cleans it will delete them.
  24. Welcome to Piriform Jean. If your talking about Internet Explorer temporary files then click on Options and the Advanced button. There is a checkbox that says Show detailed log of Internet Explorer temporary files, put a tick in the box. If its something else then I'm using v2.05.555 and they show up for me. I'm using Win98SE with 512Mb Ram.
  25. Well in Win98SE there is a file in the Windows folder that CCleaner makes WinInit.ini. In that file there are instructions to rename/delete these files on startup. I presume its similar on WinXP. [rename] NUL=C:\WINDOWS\TEMPOR~1\CONTENT.IE5\INDEX.DAT NUL=C:\WINDOWS\COOKIES\INDEX.DAT NUL=C:\WINDOWS\HISTORY\HISTORY.IE5\INDEX.DAT NUL=C:\WINDOWS\HISTORY\HISTORY.IE5\MSHIST~7\INDEX.DAT NUL=C:\WINDOWS\TEMPOR~1\CONTENT.IE5\INDEX.DAT NUL=C:\WINDOWS\COOKIES\INDEX.DAT NUL=C:\WINDOWS\HISTORY\HISTORY.IE5\INDEX.DAT No there is nothing wrong with this forum. Posting a message isn't a problem.
