  1. If you click on Options and the Advanced button there is a checkbox that says Show prompt to backup registry issues. If you remove the check mark then you won't be prompted any more.
  2. Actually ldb50 I've just tried this again. The first time I Run Cleaner and check my History folder todays links are still there. If I click Run Cleaner a second time they do disappear. Strange hickup.

    2.05.555

No it works just as fast as the other versions for me. Win98SE.
  4. Well I installed 2.05.555 and I install 2.04.543 over 2.03.532. I'm using Win98SE and delete history works for me.
  5. Well I'm using v02.05.555 on Win98SE and it doesn't do that for me. Thats because I'm using a descent OS.
  6. But to use the CCleaner.ini on the other computer you would have to select this option in the Advance section. Then close CCleaner and copy the ini file over.
  7. I know you can choose to use the CCleaner.ini or the registry but the registry option suits me best.
  8. No I think my way I better. I don't have a CCleaner.ini so I don't know where he has that from.
  9. To edit a reg file just right-click on it and select edit.
  10. Actually CCleaner saves all its settings in the registry. Run: Regedit and look for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\CCleaner\Options. If you select the Options Key name then select Registry\Export Registry File... from the main menu. Then just give that file a name e.g. CCleaner Settings.reg. Then all you have to do is copy this file to your other machine and double-click on it. Select Yes when asked if you want transfer CCleaner.reg to the registry.
  11. The simplest way is just to double-click on your reg file and select Yes when asked it you want to add yourfile.reg to the registry.
  12. Well it works for me with the newest version. Win98SE IE6SP1. I use v1.17.094 at work and I don't want the recent files deleting but it always does. I know its a very old version but its a pain in the a*** to get the IT techs to do anything. Did this feature work correctly on the older version? If so install one of those back in.

    Safe Fixing

Well before you fix anything in the Registry section CC gives you the option to save whats its removing to a reg file. You can use this option if your not sure then if anything doesn't operate correctly just double-click on the reg file to put the settings back, nothing lost. You can delete anything in the users Temp folder its only a temp storage. In fact I empty my temp folder when my computer starts up.

    cookies

Well I've just downloaded CCleaner 2.03.532 and everything works as it should do. All the cookies I want to keep stay and the rest disapear. Mind you I 'm using a descent OS Win98SE.
  16. Welcome to the forum Crimea. You don't need to uninstall CCleaner so you can install a newer version. Just installer the newer one over the top. That way you keep the same settings that are stored in the registry, like protected Cookies etc. Do I need to uninstall the old version of CCleaner when upgrading?
  17. Welcome to the forum Abracadebra. But what as this go to do with CCleaner? Have you tried a web search? How to remove any spyware adware toolbar
  18. Recuva 1.08.174 is out now, I haven't tried it yet but I'm presuming the jpg recovery has been fixed.

    Scan Disk trouble

I'm not sure what you mean scan disk files? Scandisk doesn't produce any files. Or do you mean the Scan button? You just select drive you want to check from the drive dropdown. Which version are you using? There was a bug with the last version but Recuva 1.08.174 is out now
  20. Thanks for the link hazelnut, I knew I had seen it somewhere. This will be a useful link for CCleaner users that don't know that an help file exists. Any thoughts about Piriform added an help file to the installation package?
  21. Usernames and passwords are deleted if you checkmark the Cookies option. These passwords are stores in the Cookies. If there are certain web sites that you use a username and password on then I suggest you click on Options and Cookies and move the Cookies you want to save from the Cookies to Delete listbox to the Cookies to Keep listbox.

    cookies

I've used the last 12 versions from 1.37.456 to 2.02.527 and all versions delete the Cookies that I don't want to keep. If there are some Cookies you want to keep then transfer the Cookies you want to keep from the Cookies to Delete listbox to the Cookies to Keep listbox. I'm using Win98se whether thats a better OS than yours.
  23. Why isn't BeginnersGuide.chm included in the installation package. I know it says to reduce the size of the installer but CCleaner v2.02.527 is 2,662Kb and the help file is only 57Kb so that isn't going to make much difference. I know you can download BeginnersGuide.zip seperately but I can't find the link anymore. I write programmes and I wouldn't dream of not adding the help file to an installation package just because its a few Kb larger. If users don't have web access then they can't access any help.
  24. If doesn't if you have the selected Cookies saved for the sites you need a username and password.

    CCleaner

As I said just install it on all the drives you want to use it on. You need to install it because it will write to the registry. In the Cookies options all that info is written to the registry. So there isn't much point in just copying CCleaner folder to another drive.
