What bug was that Mr.G? The only bug I've ever noticed with Win98SE anytime is this new version with the extra language support CCleaner 2.15.815 Language Support which is easily fixed as you say, just delete the Lang folder.

Hi all. I've just downloaded and installed CCleaner 2.15.815. I checked the normal options they are all still there. When I checked additional files with Uninstall Manager it came back with a Lang folder in CCleaner with all the language dll's. This isn't really a problem because I only use English anyway. When I check the languages available in Settings. The ComboBox doesn't really operate as it should do. You click on the Combo and it shows all the languages briefly then disappears then shows an obscure language, which I don't want. I didn't select it, it just jumped there. After a few practices you have to click the Combo and drag your mouse to the language you want to use. Not a great problem I just deleted the Lang folder now we are back to English. This Combo action is neither use nor ornament. Come on Mr.G lets have the ComboBox operating, as it should do. You click the Combo and it opens up. You can move your mouse away and it stays opened up. You scroll up or down to the language you want to use, select it and job done.

Maybe so Humpty but we still haven't sorted why he has no screen. If nothing shows at all on the screen then its either the screen or graphics card. He says he's checked the monitor and that ok.

Buy a floppy drive George, I've bought one of eBay on Friday only because mine is a beige one, ?7.60 with P&P. Plus you may need the cable if you've never had a floppy. Then with a good boot disk you can Fdisk and Format the drive as well has put your partitions in. But with a drive that size its not worth partitioning. I forgot to mension I wouldn't advise you putting your email address in here unless you want loads of spam George.

Welcome to Piriform George. Well a web search brings up a Maxtor 31536H2 drive as 15.3GB. Don't you think thats a bit small for WinXP? The cost of drive today is quite cheep so you might be better off buying a newer larger one. The only problem you have doing this is if its an old computer then the BIOS might not recognise large drives. You really need a friends that is local so you can check monitor to make sure it shows something. If push comes to shove you can always swap hard drives while you format it. I have 2 Maxtor drives 20GB and 40GB. Maxtor do a program called Max Blast 3 which makes a bootable floppy that you can startup and check drive size, partitioning, format drives. Thats providing you have a floppy drive, I think you would have because it sounds an old machine like mine. Google Max Blast 3.

Thanks for you comments Tom. My PC is setup as its always been for many years without this slight problem. Yes I've installed it on another PC with the same results. I'm not attempting to do anything with the files in C:\System Volume Information. I'm just curious how Defraggler can access and defrag files when I can't even look in that folder. I didn't say Defraggler prevented me from booting in Safe Mode. I just can't access Safe Mode. I'm just talking about logic here. If you see a progress counter that starts at zero and goes up to 100% this would suggest to me that is the percentage of the work undertaken. So when it reaches 100% then work is completed. When it reached 100% it kept on going for another 5 minutes before it crashes Windows with the BSOD. It said Defragmenting (100%) but it still shows 45 Fragmented files (2.2MB) still left to do? Thats a very slight annoyance with CCleaner. The progress bar even when its finished shows 100%. You tend to think is it still running or not. After its finished it show go back to zero or just clear the bar. I make programmes so thats what I would do, logically.

Well considering 655 people have clicked on this topic no one has made a single comment, apart from me. I'm not used to Defraggler so I maybe doing something wrong, I'm looking for the Defraggler experts to put me right.

No point on a flash drive or floppy disk because it doesn't goto the Recycle bin.

Ok update. Because of the problems I had with Defraggler 1.04.098 I download Defraggler 1.03.093 which is a couple of versions back. I set it running and it actually got to 100% and still going I was amazed. Then guess what happened, the BSOD appeared so I turned it off. So when it comes down to it I'm not impressed with Defraggler. Mr.G 1. How come it will shows Defragmenting (100%) but it still shows 45 Fragmented files (2.2MB) still left to do? If it shows 100% then its done isn't it? 2. The other thing is how can you read and defrag files in C:\System Volume Information? If I only click on that folder I get a no access warning. I know it stores backups for system restore but why can't I look in there?

Welcome to Piriform Th3 N3w W041d 04d34. Not a good idea, Defraggler doesn't work on Win9x/ME. As mentioned is makes the installation package three times as big. They don't like increasing the individual packages by a few kb.

Welcome to Piriform upfront. Do I'm afraid you can't change the location of CCleaner.ini it ALWAYS has to be in the application folder. Just try it for an experiment. Start up CC and select Save all Settings to INI file in Options/Advanced. Close CC and move or rename the ini file. Open up CC and there are no original settings there. Close CC and put the ini file back or un-rename and open CC again. All your settings have now been restored. What it does is as soon as you click on use ini it deletes all settings from the registry and writes them to the ini file. On startup if it can't find the ini file it goes to the registry. If there is nothing in the registry then it starts with basic settings. Providing CCleaner.ini is in the CCleaner.exe folder then there shouldn't be a problem.

Like wise why? I only use PayPal on eBay but I've never had a problem, yet. I use the normal debit/credit card for anything else but that isn't very often.

Welcome to Piriform MMcorreia. Well that will be a first for me with any version of Office that I've used. The only thing you can do at the moment is a system restore to a date before you used CC. Then open CC and in the Application tab under Applications remove the tick off which ever Office name is showing 97, 2003, 2007, XP (2000 doesn't show up it shows as 97) because you have stated your Office version. That way it should forget cleaning Office.

Hi guys/gals. Now I use 50 odd different forums and in every front page if you like you see a list of all registered users online and the number of guests, as you can on here. But when you read a topic you can also see who else is reading that same topic where as you don't on here. I have to keep clicking on usernames to see what they are reading, perhaps Hazel thinks I'm stalking her. Perhaps it doesn't bother most users but I was wondering with this could be changed in some way?

Well I didn't realise WGA had been out that long. I've just done a search for Wgatray.exe on here and found this. Now M$ posted an update link a couple of weeks ago so I downloaded a WGA app and installed no problem. Then last week they posted another WGA so like a fool I downloaded and installed. I did a restart and now I got two buttons on the welcome screen saying something like you have a counterfeit version of Windows. Click to resolve or resolve later. When Windows starts up you get no desktop image just a message in the bottom right saying the same thing and a star icon in the systray. Right-click to validate, so on the web put in the CD-Key and the message back not a valid version. Well it was only two weeks ago when I installed WinXP after having it for 4 years. I bought a genuine sealed copy with a copper hologrammed CD with CDKey. I went online to register it and the reply back was thanks for registering your Windows then information will be entered into our database. I emailed M$ about this problem and they didn't forward any sort of reply only links to M$ search. Of course you can't uninstall WGA didn't see that softpedia link till now so the next thing is a system restore and it disappeared then. So I'm wondering if any of these crucial updates are worth downloading?

The _ button on the app window will minimize it. Well it works for me, not that I'm bothered. Open CC and goto Options\Advanced. Remove the checkmark on Minimize to System Tray then Minimize CC and you will just see the app in the taskbar. Restore CC and put the checkmark back and minimize again. You will now see no app in the taskbar but the icon in the systray, double-click icon to restore.
